An 81-year-old man was charged on Friday with causing the death of his wife and injuring a taxi driver in a road traffic accident.
Dieu Siew Chuan, a retiree, is accused of causing the death of Madam Lim Kwee Eng, 79, who was seated at the back of his car, by doing a negligent act.
He allegedly failed to give way to vehicles having the right of way when making a right turn from Clementi Avenue West into Clementi Road on Sept 20 last year, resulting in a collision with a taxi coming from the opposite direction.
The second charge accuses him of causing hurt to Mr Lew Tat Chiang, 50, by doing an act so negligently as to endanger life.
