Man, 22, arrested for molesting woman in Yishun

SINGAPORE - Police have arrested a 22-year-old man for a case of outrage of modesty in the vicinity of Yishun Central.
On March 26 this year, the victim alighted from a bus and was walking home when she was molested by the suspect. The suspect then hurriedly walked away and the victim lost sight of him. The victim subsequently lodged a police report.
Following the report, officers from Ang Mo Kio Police Division commenced investigations. Their protracted investigations eventually bore fruit when it was established the suspect had been on the same bus as the victim and had followed her down before molesting her shortly after. The suspect was eventually arrested in the vicinity of Woodlands Street 81 on Apr 25.
The suspect will be charged in Court on April 27 for the offence of Outrage of Modesty under Section 354(1) of the Penal Code, Chapter 224, which carries an imprisonment term of up to two years and caning.
Commander of Ang Mo Kio Police Division, Deputy Assistant Commissioner Keok Tong San, commended the officers for their doggedness and resolve, adding that Police will not hesitate to track down those inclined to commit such offences and ensure that they face the full brunt of the law. He also advised females to avoid dimly lit and secluded areas when alone. If confronted, shout for help immediately to seek assistance from people nearby and call the police promptly.
