So we compare city to city (KL and SG) Now exchange rate SG$1 = RM2.57
In KL prata Kosong RM1 to RM1.2 only.
Chicken rice RM4~RM5
Petrol 95 RM2.1
Car on average Toyota Vios/Honda City RM80K++
Car road tax 1600cc RM200/year.

So on average KL price cost of living is half( food and transport)
But for branded good eg. LV/ Prada about 10%~20% cheaper than SG.

We not only look at cost of living, the traffic jams in KL is legendary.

NO different from Orchard road during night peak.
If you live 10~20km from KL center traffic quite ok. Distance just like CDB to Pasir Ris or Jurong East.

Traffic jams only occur within the inner core of KL during rush hour.

If you're a retiree, you probably aren't going to rush off to a workplace early in the morning.

Malaysia is a huge country in comparison to Singapore, why stay in KL when Malacca or any other states are much quieter and not much traffic? Are we not talking about retirement?

That's right. But even if you compare the bigger cities with Singapore, they are still a better deal for retirement than Singapore.

Singapore is just an overcrowded shithole, the infrastructure is getting worse everyday and there aren't even enough hospital beds.

Traffic jam occur in KL not because of the high amount of cars traveling in & out of any area but the high amount of cars that are just permanently parked on the side of the road that obstructs traffic. And not forgetting the way those savages drive in Malaysia, forever speeding in the car parks and they can never park straight and never inside the lot! And not forgetting the superb road planning by the stupid m&d government where intersections & turn offs are always clump together at the same spot!

This was written by a Malaysian when someone wanted to apply Malaysian PR.

#1 politically unstable
#2 Racial profiling are on large, any non-bumiputras are institutional discriminated because of political agendas
#3 Country currency is getting weaker.
#4 Foreign workers are being treated differently according to origins (racism)
#5 Unhealthy competitive attitudes and lost of positive cultural attitudes due to failure of education
#6 Unhealthy religious conduct.

i love malaysia. i love thailand.

Loving a country as a visitor is different than as a resident. If one loves a country enough they will decide to live there permanently. I will not live in Malaysia for the main reason of racism and discrimination, but I love traveling to Malaysia for a short holiday. It is tempting but I felt some disquiet about their religiosity and racism which can be quite extreme.

As a single it may not be a problem but if married and with kids, it may be a tough decision, as Malaysia's education system is sub-standard.

White man pensioners are doing now in Vietnam HCM city. With the State pension money they group together to rent a small 3 bdroom and can live on their pension $. Food and beer is cheap 80 cent for a bottle of local beer (anything that can get them drunk).

When you retire, you want nature, greenery, few people and a slower pace of life. Most importantly, you want a fairly low cost of living that stretches your retirement funds.

Why the hell would anyone want to, if given a choice, retire in Sinkieland? What honestly is there to look forward to? Golf courses? Even the elite retirees are more often than not playing in Malaysian golf courses. Taichi lessons at a community centre? Karaoke sessions early in the morning? The two casinos? Mahjong?

There is nothing in Singapore. It is just a bland, sterile, overcrowded urban shithole. Where you attempt to make plenty of money when young, so you can fuck off and enjoy in your twilight years.

As a participant of the Second Home programme, you will enjoy positive discrimination. What's the issue?
