Magnitude 5.5 earthquake hits southern Xinjiang, China region: EMSC

A magnitude 5.5 earthquake struck southern Xinjiang in China on Sunday, the European-Mediterranean Seismological Centre said.

The quake was at a depth of 24 km (14.91 miles), EMSC said.
In February, an earthquake of magnitude 5.8 struck Kyrgyzstan and China’s Xinjiang border region, according to the German Research Center for Geosciences (GFZ).
The quake was at a depth of 10 km (6.21 miles), GFZ said at the time.
