It states that “National Development Minister Khaw Boon Wan today made clear that he has de-linked the prices of new flats sold by HDB from the resale flat market.

He has done this ever since he took over the housing portfolio in 2011 to ensure that Build-to-Order (BTO) flats remain affordable despite the rising resale market, he said.

Speaking to reporters at the HDB hub on Thursday morning, he noted that BTO prices across HDB’s new launches in the past 18 months have been stable, although prices of resale flats have been steadily climbing.”

Why only announce now?

Since the prices of new flats have been delinked from resale prices since mid 2011, why did we wait more than one and a half years to tell Singaporeans of this significant policy change?

Why wasn’t such good news announced before the Punggol-East by-election?

In a reply in parliament in November, it was said that “the overall BTO prices have increased by 12 per cent since January 2009.

This is despite the 34 per cent increase in the HDB Resale Price Index (RPI) over the same period.”

So, why was this “delinking of prices” policy change not mentioned in November in the parliamentary reply?

If BTO prices are delinked from resale prices then how are the prices for BTO flats derived? How much is SLA and HDB earning from selling public housing to low and middle income Singaporeans? Khaw should be made to answer these and many more questions in parliament as the state controlled media will not do so.

Now that by-election is over, it is time to push WP very hard to start asking some very in-depth and serious questions of the policies that are in place.

and when was the priceing of new flats ever been linked to resale flats?? Does it meant to say that new flats have been treated the same as old flats and vice verses?

Remember KBW during campaigning GE2006 promised to not go ahead with hospitalization means testing.
But right after GE, announces means testing for all public hospitals.

New flats have always been priced at a fraction of resale flats in nearby estates. Khaw as usual is talking from his ass and doesn't show any figures to proof his case. His only fact is that resales flates have increased 30+ while BTO flats have increased by a smaller percentage. He is one of the biggest scoundrels who always accuses others of not understanding what he is saying but in the end he actually does exactly what he said he was to have been misunderstood about.

This guy is taking us for a piss and he should be brought to task since he has been found out many times over. He shouldn't be allowed to make hollow statements without any facts and figures to show.
