BTO / SBF application for newly wed SC & Foreign spouse

Hi all,

My (28, M, SC) fianceé (29, F, WP (MY)), will be getting married in late February 2026. We've been together since before covid, and had lived together in rental rooms since 2020-2021?

After reading about BTO/SBF, I realized we don't meet the criteria of purchasing from HDB, and only eligible for resale flats. Unfortunately, we do not have the funds to purchase a resale flat, and rents have been crazy lately.

We had thought that we would be eligible to BTO after getting married, like a lot of our friends and families. Unfortunately, that's not the case. SC with foreign spouse is only eligible to buy a BTO/SBF at 35 years old, and even then it's only 2 room flexi choices (which we're fine with) or resale flats if we're older than 21.

We do not make that much money, even combined, especially because we have to support her family in Malaysia, to consider getting a resale flat.

Her becoming a PR is low on our priority list, as, if she does become a PR, she would have to contribute to her CPF, which is a lot of money she uses to send to her mother, sisters and kids living in Malaysia.

I'm asking for some kind and gentle advice or anyone with a similar situation / experience like mine.
