Loud blast heard in Tampines

A loud blast startled Tampines residents last night and prompted the authorities to investigate.
The blast had occured at a multi-storey carpark near Blk 716A, Tampines Street 71, at around 10.35pm on 10 March, according to netizen 'Stevie', who wrote to the Stomp website.
Startled residents, thinking a car had exploded, quickly alerted the police.
A fire engine, a red rhino and police officers arrived within minutes to investigate.
Police cordoned off the top deck of the carpark and soon discovered the likely cause of the blast.
According to Shin Min Daily News, a stick of fireworks, consisting of about 20 sparklers tied together with black tape, was found charred and left on the carpark deck.
The Civil Defence said that smoke was seen at the scene but no one was hurt and no property was damaged in the incident.
