Losing Faith In The Opposition

Goh Meng Seng is a strong opposition leader what! See how he focus on fighting the food for the YOG volunteers. Did you see WP, RP and other opposition leader doing that?:D:D:D

It's the election season. After the season - when he has received or paid his dues - you won't hear from him until the next season. Unless of course he is brought to court by the winners for another round of "rally".

sadly, it's better than nothing

everyone knows there is not a lot of talent in the opposition due to the concentration of talent in the state govt

politics is a dirty game, unless u have millions & billions in the bank itching to be donated to the famiLee via lawsuits, its quite obvious there aren't many out there who wish to be in those shoes. many sinkie mentality these days can be concluded as; wait for the oldman to die. question is, when will oldman die?

the only way to accelerate the process is to topple his dynasty before his eyes in a GE. if the Leegime suffer a devastating defeat, surely oldman will die sudden death

Is this for real? If it is, he should be inducted into Yaw Shing Leong's Hall of Fame for the politically challenged.

Of course for real, even came out on TV.

Teo Chee Hean : What's SPP manifesto.

Desmond Lim : Our manifesto is PAP manifesto. You can be architect but we're surveyor.

Reporter : Mr. Teo, what do you think about that comment?

Teo Chee Hean : I think he should join PAP.

Ramseth,

I remember Desmond Lim DID indeed say this, but I don't recall TCH saying he should join PAP.

Hmmm ... thanks for bringing this up. Maybe you are NOT homosexual afterall. :D

Perhaps you've missed the last part after getting choked on the first part. Ask Desmond, ask Teo, check with MediaCorp arhives, if I'm making this up or adding any spice to it.

Perhaps Desmond meant auditor and not surveyor?

As an external auditor his party provides a check of sorts on the PAP manifesto.

That is, if this is what his party is really doing.

Teo Chee Hean's reply isn't any better. Asking his parroting opponent to join PAP might been a good rejoinder, but he's indirectly saying that Desmond Lim is both qualified and have good foresight for the PAP. Indirectly that is saying that PAP's talent is equal or less than the opposition.

Generally speaking, if I had found the PAP a lot better than the opposition I wouldn't be talking and writing about it like the chaps here, but just vote for them. In reality my time engaging the PAP, just the MPs level (not even ministerial level) was a lot better experience than several opposition leaders, esp Kenneth Jeyaretnam, who had called me what would be synonyms of dishonest, liar etc. simply becos I disagreed with him.

However I would vote for KJ in my constituency speaking at a rally wearing nothing but his underwear, or even nothing with his dingaling sticking out. Yes even if he stood against a resurrected Goh Keng Swee. Reason is simple. A Parliament where only 1 party occupies all the seats is as good as an appointed Parliament. If you want an appointed Parliament, then just tell PAP to abolish election and appoint all their fellas inside. In this way Singaporeans won't waste PAP's time holding elections and my time trudging all the way to vote in elections (and waste a perfectly good public holiday).

This is a good perspective on the issue, I must admit.

Actually, Teo Chee Hean replied Desmond Lim should join PAP grassroots and help him in election campaigning (implicitly not as candidate calibre). Serious, no kidding, no spice added.

I think Desmond Lim can be a counting agent.

He has to be kidding. I grant that people vote for PAP because they are good, but I wonder if they realise it is more of the other way round - they are good because people vote for them. Successful people associate themselves with success - if successful people associated themselves with a failing cause then even I would doubt whether they are really successful (or lying about their credentials), will no longer be successful soon or have something wrong in their heads. Or that I'm living in a paradox where a car tyre spinning clockwise brings the car into the direction of the left.

Even then, I see them (PAP) getting worse by the years.

Not surprising, SPP's Pasir Ris-Punggol GRC team led by Desmond Lim was a very weak and poor one. But they still managed 31%, this time round, if Desmond can field a much stronger team, i m sure the votes will surprise many and Teo of course.

You have to be kidding. Successful people are successful. Only failures want to associate themselves with successful people for the sake and look of it.

When successful people associate with each other, they're on equal terms.

his 31.3% ok.
ignoring CST and Steve Chia results as exceptions.
SDA Jalan Besar GRC team got 30.7%, Tampines GRC got 31.5%.
MacPherson SMC 31.5%, Yio Chu Kang SMC 31.7%
interestingly all results are same, within 1% margin of each other.

nobody fare better or worse in SDA.

Excellent.

Huh??! That is a very strange viewpoint of yours.

Successful people form close network with each other because they want to leverage on each others' business potential and contact base. People who have built good careers don't waste precious time entertaining lesser mortals. Time is money to them. They have to be very careful with the time they spent associating with others.

Exactly what I meant. Synergizing versus assbuttering. Re-read my earlier post.
