1. France
Won WC98 and Euro2000 with their french foreign legionaire squad of imported players. Except for Ribery, no notable french youngster in the international team today.
The current team is filled with pampered old men who have lost their fire to win. Team morale is all time low. Oh look! One guy just got sent off.

2. Eng-ger-land
What have they achieved since 1966? Squat.
Last notable performances were Italia '90 and Germany '96 [Co-incidently 1996/7 was when the EPL allowed more than 3 foreigners to play in a club]. The Premier league enjoyed success since then at the expense of the international team.
Most guilty is London club Arsenal. No English player in this major club. Theo Walcott has been forgotten since he reached puberty.

Oh look! france just conceded another..

3. Nederlands
The perennial underachievers of international football. Excellent exporter nation of club players like Marco van baston, Gulit, Rikaard, Bengkemp, Edgar Davids. But racial discrimination was an open secret in the international team. At one point, black players (imported from Surinam) when to a different locker room during half time.

England is out. So much for their much hailed Golden Generation. Better like FTs run the show in their own country.

ribery not a youngster anymore

Getting FT is a short-term solution to a long-term problem. Any hope of using these tactics have been over-promised and people often point to the success of J-league, with getting top but aging stars to kick start the project.
J League has became successful only partly due to that. Rich nations like England and Italy, to some extend Scotland (look at how they are faring now? and please look for any Scottish stars playing in the 2 Glasgow giants), depends too much on FT and ignore giving their own home-grown players chances will suffer in the long run.

Anyone who has pointed to France Cup-winning team to justify getting FT in should relook at the situation today and justify himself today...and you know I am talking about.

England depends on too many FT in their EPL until their own cannot play the world cup well. Shame on them! and they wanted to demand $400 million from SingTel.

Is it the FT policy, or is it simply that the World Cup doesn't pay as much as the rich clubs/leagues? One gets the sneaky feeling that players from the richest clubs and leagues don't care two hoots about the World Cup, and rightly so.

Hmm, let's see, if I were playing for a rich club and got arrowed to play in the World Cup, should I go all out, play for national glory and perhaps get myself injured by a team whose country's GDP is less than my annual salary, has nothing to lose and wouldn't mind breaking my leg, thus potentially derailing my long and lucrative career and endangering my lavish lifestyle?

Or should I just go through the motions, let the press and fans lambast me for a couple of months, continue cashing in those lovely weekly paychecks, play well for my club, until another four years later, hope that I won't get called up but if I do, once again disappoint the press and fans and continue happily cashing my checks?

I think the latter is much more desirable.

What does winning the World Cup mean nowadays anyway? Just something for you poorer nations with poorer clubs and leagues to fight over and feel good about it. You get the glory, I'll keep the money.

It's like getting a gold medal at the Olympics for basketball. Sure, at the last Olympics the US who supposedly has the best basketball players lost and got jeered, but do the US players care about the Olympics when it comes to basketball? NBA is rich, and their players get lots of money, so big deal, you keep the glory, I'll keep the money.

I can safely say that even if the whole English and French squads were pure homegrown talent, as long as all their players belong to rich clubs and leagues, no one in their right mind would do anything but the barest minimum when it comes to the World Cup. For some funny reason Italy and Germany still take the World Cup seriously, maybe they value national pride as much as money.

I'll go so far to say that if somehow a homegrown Singaporean or two ends up in the EPL and does well, when it comes to qualifying for the World Cup he will play his barest minimum for Team Singapore, because it's just not worth his time. People like Drogba or Ronaldo, they just wish they didn't have to represent Ivory Coast and Portugal.

Cynical? You betcha. You keep the glory, I'll keep the money.

So how will you rate the quality of the game played so far ?

Look at what the Kaiser had correctly predicted.

"It looked to me as if the English have gone backwards into the bad old times of kick and rush. I am not sure if the England coach Fabio Capello can still change much there. The English are being punished for the fact that there are very few English players in the Premier League clubs as they use better foreign players from all over the world." - Franz Beckenbaur, 15 Jun 2010

There are many reasons why players don't perform during WC. But look beyond this tournament for a clearer picture. What has the England squad achieved after foreigners were imported en mass into the EPL?

I admit it has made the league more watchable. I used to hate the English long ball game until continental stars like Cantona, Zola and Ginola injected some class into the English game. But look at what a circus it has turned into now? Look at the Arsenal team for the last 4 years.

I really pity talents like Joe Cole who will never realise his potential at club and country levels.

What's so great about UK soccer? Full of hype and shit news.

The only reason why Sinkies are supportive of them is because they speak English.

For France, they have a fucked up coach...who has lost the respect of the players. Hence, without a leader, how you gonna go to the battle.

Secondly, i think the French are too fucking proud and think they could just stroll to the pitch and collect 3 points. However, many teams today are different, they are willing to bloody their nose for result. France got themselves a lesson against Senegal in the previous World Cup and they once again got themselves in this shit again.

If i am the coach, I will scrap the whole team and get all new players who are more eager and more dedicated. start from scratch.

England...they fail under too heavy expectations. Too much weight hanging on Rooney, its the case for all previous England teams...too much expectations on Rooney and Beckham previously. And they talked too big, Ferdinand say they will win the world cup, fuck, look at himself, his performance at Man U is already not good to begin with. And then there is John Terry who enjoy fucking people's wife and gf...if in the team, I don't deny there will be some disharmony except that unlike France, Cappello keep it down.

Then, its the quality of the goalie...calamity james...oh god....they never learn do they? Perhaps this problem is more far fetched, there is no decent England keeper (as one Premier league manager put it). Robert Green was shoved to one side after that mistake...i think he might never be the same again...just like that promising Stoke keeper (cannot remember name), also left out in the cold. Similar cold turkey treatment to Ben Foster....

Perhaps the next one to stand between the sticks - Joe Hart...but no more James please, he should take his place in history books.

I have no comments about the conflict of play for Gerrard and Lampard, seems they cannot play together? I don't know....there must be a way to do so...

And poor Crouch - nobody likes him even though he can play...and score...no body likes to buddy him...so sad.

And nah...I don't think the problem is about too few UK players ...but rather too few UK players playing abroad....they prefer to play in UK for higher pay and homey comfort.

So how will you rate the quality of the game played so far ?

Quality is good. The new kids from S America like Uruguay, Honduras and Paraguay are impressive. I expected more from African and Asian teams though.

How about the Watchman? Who's your fav team(s)?

looks like this World Cup, teams at the Southern Hemisphere / near the south will do well...close to the climate / terrain type of South Africa.

Exception of Germany...

They stopped playing together since the first game, Gerrard shifted to the left wing and Lampard stay central.
anyway both guys will be around for Euro 2012, win their 100th cap because there are nobody to replace them.

The other midfielders are Carrick, 29 yrs old, Hargreaves, 30 yrs old and Barry is 30 yrs old. In reserve, the likes of Tom Huddlestone and Scott Parkers are not good enough.

Talk about FT in Football... I don't understand why get a FT as England Manager? England No Talented Manager meh?

Just Becos Italian win the World Cup in 2006? Previously the Swede, sven goran eriksson also FT... FT has no Heart and Passion to sacrifice for their employment Country. Look at the winning teams, they have their very own countryman as Manager.

England really has no good manager because the whole batch of them played kick and rush football up to the 90s. The crop of successful 80s players like Bull, Souness, Hughes even have difficulty coaching in mid table clubs. Stevie Maclaren attempted bravely to helm the country but turned out to be an epic failure when he couldn't even lead the team to Euro 08 qualification.

The country has been expecting great things from their favourtie son Alan Shearer. But the guy is a selfish prick who is unwilling to risk his perfect reputation.

However I am sticking my head out to predict the Golden Generation will come up with a few decent club level managers. The crop of Man U, Pool and Chelsea players have been exposed to new coaching styles and training methods. I guess I will have to wait 8 more years to see if I'm right.

Their FT is called foreign talent

Sinkie's FT is called Foreign Trash

Got difference hor

Ericksson had no heart and passion. But he had alot of love for female colleagues. That guy is a clown. And a very rich one at that.
