Loanshark runner jailed, caned

SINGAPORE: A loanshark runner has been sentenced to 52 months' jail and ordered to receive 24 strokes of the cane for harassing debtors and assisting in unlicensed moneylending operations.
Twenty-three-year-old Se Wei Kuang had admitted to 53 counts under the Moneylenders Act.
The prosecution proceeded on 13 charges.
The Malaysian had abetted in harassing debtors through vandalism and put chains at those units, among other things.
The offences were committed between January and April this year.
