The answers and solutions are so obvious, why is there a need to appoint a high-level committee and give them 6 months to come out with the same findings?

Causes of riot:
- Too many ah nehs going to Little India on weekends.
- Govt did not control the number of ah nehs in Little India. They also did not enforce jaywalking rules. As a result, ah nehs begin to behave like they are in India: jaywalking without regard for traffic rules and vehicles.
- Too many alcohol licenses. That area has one of the highest alcohol licenses per square kilometre.
- Poor reading of the situation by police. They did not expect the situation to escalate to a riot.
- Slow response by police, and slow action. 24 arrests and taking 3-1/2 hours to get the situation under control.

Recommendations:
- Restrict number of ah nehs going to Little India on weekends. The open areas and fields will be fenced up and will be made out of bounds.
- Gradually demolish all the pre-war houses. Impose a racial quota on the number of ah nehs who can live there.
- Increase number of wardens and traffic police to fine those who are jay walking.
- Reduce number of alcohol licenses.
- Sack the Minister of Home Affairs and the Commissioner of Police.
- Take similar preventive action on the other racial groups who congregate: Indonesians, Burmese, Thais etc.
