Meritocracy works but beware of elitism: ESM Goh
Published on Jul 27, 2013 8:11 PM By Goh Chin Lian

Emeritus Senior Minister Goh Chok Tong on Saturday evening warned of the threat of elitism, saying it can divide the inclusive society that Singapore is striving to build.

The way to guard against it is to adapt and strengthen the practice of meritocracy that has served Singapore well.

"What we need is to get the successful to understand that they have a responsibility to help the less fortunate and less able with compassion, to give back to society through financial donations, sharing of their skills and knowledge and spending time to help others do better, and to serve the country," he said.

555 ya lor....machiam hardcore drug addict preaching the dangers of drug abuse....what a fucktard!

Didn't he asked if you're a stayer or quitter when his own daughter is married to a white trash and living in the UK :oIo:

this is just another example of how the PAP and their leadership are so out of touch with sentiments on the ground. Or is it self denial? Or trying to mind fuck people?

Silly Wooden Goh. Learn to control your wife first before preaching to others about the evils of elitism.

To be fair to Wooden, he wasn't as bad a PM as compared to Pinky.

We have just seen the latest example of pappy style meritocracy when Lim Boon Heng is appointed to Tummysick chair.

Of course we see daily examples of their meritocracy in overpriced(they call it subsidised) HDB estates where local old folks struggle to survive by picking up cans/card boxes, sweeping floors, cleaning dishes when Pinoys/PRC's/Indians with fake papers are given PMET jobs and living it up in Orchard Rd.

Do you believe that the Democratic People's Republic of Korea or north korea is democratic ?
The white horse scheme is to ENSURE the equality of treatment or no preferential treatment?

A thief will have the decency not to insult your intelligence. Only those who are lower than thieves will do so.

Actually he did try to control her. When she made the peanuts comment, he claimed that he told her she made a mistake.
But of course, he could have merely used her comment as an excuse to tell her off.................. ;)

As for who was the better pm, you wouldn't expect much from pinky given the baggage he came with, delusion and illusion of grandeur and greatness and all.
But we would expect more from wooden who was from an ordinary family.
