Harmony at its best
MONDAY's report, 'Temple donates $10,000 to mosque for upgrading works', certainly made my day.
It was in contrast to newspaper reports on religious strife, and I was elated to read about the harmony walk from the Al-Istighfar mosque in Pasir Ris to the Loyang Tua Pek Kong temple at Loyang Way.
Where else in the world can you see Muslims, Taoists and people from other religions walking together harmoniously and as one people to support and cement the spirit of camaraderie between members of different religions?
Because of the religious and racial harmony that Singapore enjoys, it makes me even more proud to be a Singaporean.
At the same time, I urge all Singaporeans not to take religious and racial harmony for granted, but to continue to strive to keep the harmony flame ablaze for future generations.
