I doubt GG will be touched openly or even threatened. Because of his nature and his circumstances, the carrot approach is more likely.
Anyway, he is leading on an issue that is a genuine thorn to everyone in Singapore. It will be silly of them to touch him in an overt manner. They know that he will yell out loud.
Nizam on the other hand unfortunately was drinking from the PAP fountain via the AMP for 15 years. There is a quid pro quo arrangement. He was part of the selection mechanism for Malay PAP candidates. And the PAP wants its pound of flesh.
With or without Nizam and even GG, the movement has gathered momentum. The PAP cannot quell the unhappiness coming from the 6.9M white paper. The opposition and the usual activists were overly cautious and did not want to lead the Hong Lim protest thinking that the turnout will be bad and they will look silly. Credit to GG to get this right.

From what others have said, it seems that he is quite compromised that they can pull the lever any time they like.
If they do it, I am sure they'll do it simply for laughs, as he isn't viewed as a threat to anyone but himself.
