Lee Hsien Loong: “Nobody will be left behind.”
Lee Kuan Yew: “You go down New York, Broadway. You will see the beggars, people of the streets…Where are the beggars in Singapore? Show me.”
There are none because they have been arrested and thrown into "Homes" which actually are Prisons.....
The number of homeless folk picked up by welfare officers driving around Singapore's housing estates, beaches and streets has doubled in the past two years. A total of 253 people were picked up by officers from the Ministry of Community Development, Youth and Sports (MCYS) last year, up from 123 in 2007. More than half were found sleeping in void decks of Housing Board blocks. More than six in 10 were men aged below 60 and 'capable of working', said MCYS. The rest were divided equally between women and older men. Around 85 per cent were Singaporeans. Most of the vagrants were admitted to government-run homes for destitutes where they get free food, clothes and shelter, but face curbs on their freedom.
If you commit a crime, you go to Changi Leesort, after a perfunctory few sessions in Court. You are entitled to soap, towel, toilet paper, yardtime within which to bathe, exercise or do nothing, reading material in the cell. When you are admitted to Changi Leesort, they'll go through your orifices to check that you haven't hidden contraband in them, they go through your belongings and your valuables, keep them, and return them when you are released. If you are mistreated, you can make it known to the world.
If you are homeless, all it takes is a MCYS signature, and you are unlikely to come out of Pelangi Village, the minimum security prison for vagrants, alive. You are likely without kins. Nobody knows you are there. You need permission to use the phone. When you are admitted, they go through your belongings and your valuables, keep them, take them? In any case, you are very unlikely to see them again. You are entitled to nothing except the clothes they gave you. The only thing you can play with is your dick or your pussy. Bathing is organized abattoir fashion. You queue in a row, strip off close to the bathroom, pushed and shoved, 200 over prisoners are done in less than an hour. Conjure in your mind the Nazi gas chamber as the Jews line up naked to go in. You are unlikely to have opted out of HOTA. You are unlikely to be able to opt out then. You are unlikely to be able to vote again. If you are mistreated, nobody would know. If you are culled, nobody would care. You have vanished from Singapore. You are no longer a citizen. You are no more beggers, people of the streets.
I can claim that poverty has been eradicated.
