Coming from SAF or not to do a civilian job and lead it out of crisis is not a indicator of HOW well or not he will do.

Maybe if he was tested in real battle or crisis while in the uniform, he could have been better like those US ones who after retiring join the civilian sector.

It all lie with the type or kind of person you have for a leader and the 'ruling environment' you have here.

With a ruling system like what you have here, you will never find good leaders in the mist or have the means to create good leaders from it!

Norman Schwarzkopf became a motivational speaker or something like that,,

contrast that to PAP Generals,,they get jobs in GLCs,,,and even the USA military rank and file, good ones are offered mercenary contracts earning them more than the military pay,,,how many SAF personnel can work for international mercenary companies?

The way all these SAF generals cock up big time with logistics, human resource management, maintenance of civvy organisations show that the SAF is totally unprepared with these kind of leadership. Playing table top war games, big deal, even teenagers excel at games like Warcraft, Command and conquer, Panzer General etc

Poor NS men are dying from cockup safety protocols in SAF training quite often these days and we never hear of any General taking the rap or getting demoted!

Mindef is a bottomless pit. They spent money like water. That's why Mindef's budget is so huge. These 'generals' come into govt-linked companies with that mentality and what do you expect? They will try to get more money and the only way they can do it is to press customers. They have the monopoly and people don't have alternative.
