The new National Stadium and the Singapore Indoor Stadium will remain off-limits to commercial branding, even as OCBC Group sealed a landmark $50million naming rights deal with the Siingapore Sports Hub yesterday.

The 15-year contract will allow the group - which includes OCBC Bank, its private banking arm Bank of Singapore and its insurance subsidiary Great Eastern Holdings - to name various venues within the 35ha facility.

But even if the government is open to more such partnerships, the iconic National Stadium and the Singapore Indoor Stadium will be off limits.

They could be named after personalities in the future, said Actiing Minister for Culture, Community and Youth Lawrence Wong on the sidelines of yesterday's signing ceremony at the Sports Hub Experience Centre.

"We also may have the possibility of either stadium being named after a personality, for example, someone we wish to commemorate or remember, he said.

And Marina Bay renamed as Marina Bay. And don't forget to pay CONsultants hundreds of thousands of dollars to recommend that.

Lau Chee Bye Stadium sounds good and easy to remember.

Lau Chee Bye opened the old National Stadium.. Best scenario, next year they ask Lau Chee Bye to cut ribbon again for the new National Stadium and he dropped dead minutes after declaring the stadium open..

Uh-Oh.. i have a feeling the National Stadium will be named after someone i dont wish to be named..

So its sorted then:

Choose between:
David Marshall Stadium
Goh Keng Swee Stadium
C Kunalan Stadium
Fandi Ahmad Stadium

All the crucial ones are up there...
:))

From the comments, the pair of stadiums could be named after a pair?

The National Stadium was opened on 21st July 1973, I still have the photos taken with the Logo of National Stadium Corporation & the Display that Says WELCOME PRIME MINISTER..

The future...should name it as LKY Stadium!
