hi, i am quite puzzled why my wifi on laptop has a higher speed connection than my desktop connected using lan cable. i did a speedtest and discover that. any guru can advise?:o

Check yur LAN cable lah.it may be faulty...btw you using cat 4 or cat 5 n above
 
cat 5, rj45...this cable has been with me for few years alrdy, unlikely it's broken.:confused:

Most likely it's your cable problem..anyway rj45. Cable quite cheap lah..or borrow from yur fren for testing

powercycle your router.
change your cable if that does not help.
if not, then something wrong with windows, reinstall windows.
 
Cable internet is shared with your neighbours.

If one of your neighbours is hogging all the bandwidth, too bad for you. :cool:
 
There is no such thing as wifi faster than wired lan.

So here is the thing.

Use a similar browser, without tabs or any plugins or extensions.....on both the wifi and wired lan.

You will see that your wifi is slower than the wired lan, as this is a given.

The reason your speedtest is giving you a slower reading has to do with your browser on the wired lan. Too many open tabs and other nonsense.

Problem solved.

ok already. the problem seems like i have set the rx/tx transmission speed to 100Mbps, after changing to auto, it seems alright already.:o
