Knnbccb PAP. Retirement age will become 70. Pui!

The "retirement age" is just a suggestion. In reality most sinkees will have to work until they die.
In the private sector, the retirement age is a guideline or merely a suggestion that employers do not have to pay any heed to. Most of my friends were retrenched from their PMET jobs by their mid-40s to early 50s.

What difference does it make what age the PAP designates as "retirement age". You can retire any time you want once you're financially independent.
Exactly. I still do not understand why the flaccids get so work up when a retirement age is being mentioned. I do not understand why you need to specific a retirement age at all. Isn't it unsurprising that these flaccids are vaccinated.

Contrary to popular perception, S'porean PMEs have very little protection from employers who marginalise and pressure them to leave before the official retirement age. I have seen capable older staff suddenly receive poor appraisals and be put on PIP once they reach 60, to force them out of the company.

S'poreans do not have a choice. If the PAP cannot take your money through direct taxation, they will do so through indirect taxation!
You won't be affected if you know the right place to buy stuff from, even better stay anywhere that allows 30-day visa free so PAP can't get their hands on your money

This can happen at any age. It happened to a friend of mine at 40 despite the official retirement age at the time being 60 or 62 so what freakin difference will it make raising it to 65 or 70 or even 95???

The tripartism in Singapore is a scam.

Raising the official retirement age is just for optics. The PAP's action is taken solely to improve public perception, appearance and the govt's image rather than for any substantive, practical or sincere reasons. Our pro-business and pro-employer govt won't ever make age discrimination illegal.

There is absolutely nothing wrong with age discrimination. As an employer my duty is to maximise profits not run a charity or a geriatric care unit. Old farts have no place in a dynamic and fast moving environment. I fully support the PAP on this issue.

It is the duty of every citizen to plan for the day when they are no longer wanted by their companies regardless of age. This can be done by concentrating on achieving financial independence as early as possible in their careers.
