[TD="class: msgtxt"]GLC stole business from local entrepreneur
from Temasek Review Post date:23 July 2011
I am a local entrepreneur and like the writer of the article [Link], I face similar problems. I am so glad that, finally, the likes of us are reflected on TRE.
I am happy to say that all of my 20 staff out of 21 are Singaporeans. The only one is a PRC technician, who is an excellent guy that could compete well with the rest of the Singaporeans. He has been with me for 5 years and I hope to convert him to a Singaporean, but the system says otherwise. Does anyone have any advice?
I would say from experience, for every 20 PRCs, if you could find one just as good, you’ll be very lucky. As for Indians from India, none is as hardworking. They only have excellent lip service. If you have a weak mind, you could easily get conned by them that they are the most hardworking or the best. So, after knowing the characteristics of India Indians, I walked the floor constantly to check on them. All chose to leave after less than 2 months.
Pinoy is a no-no cause I have seen too many political games they played at the offices of my counterparts and competitors especially when they are in large number. Therefore, I stick strictly to locals, especially those who were retrenched during the last economic downturn. These are the lot who will strive hard as a team with you.
I too am bleeding since 2009. This happened when a GLC, which was my customer, started similar business and compete with me! They have funds and resources that I don’t have. They came to my office one day, citing that they needed my manuals and wanting to see my setup so as to ensure the quality of my work. Little did I know that after 3 months, they set up the same workshop, identical in size and equipment!
Is our gahmen really protecting local businesses from GLCs? This is like taking rice from the beggar’s rice bowl. Do you think it’s fair?
I am in technologies and was head-huntered to run a 400 over man company in China recently. I am contemplating to shut down my operations here and bring my generals to China and never to come back again… I have already given up on our gahmen. Furthermore, they keep advertising that they need entrepreneurs, but what have they done for us?
If they say they are giving funds and handouts to help local businesses, then it is an insult to us local entrepreneurs. We do not need such welfare. We just want the gahmen to keep their hands off the private businesses and also reduce the cost of doing business in Singapore. After 5 years in my business, they did nothing. And the worst is, they took my business away.
I’m completely speechless…

Good reading for the 60.1%. Wait, some of those are the CCB ah nehs & pinoys mentioned in the article.

I thought only the chinese aka tiongs are bad?

I mean in this fucking country they only specifically attack tiongs when it comes to foreigners. Sure hate the tiongs but at the end in an indirect way they are attacking chinese including local chinese.

for easy reading, so i've edited it...

Sperminator's view : This story of GLC copying ideas, sometimes even SPRINGS copying ideas is not new!

Beware of any SPRINGS schemes, it's more of a direct understanding of your business plans...

67% of Singapore's economy is run directly, indirectly by TEMASEK HOLDINGS...

It's a better idea for the writer of this story to bring all his generals into Shenzhen / Shanghai / Guangzhou, as these top 3 cities have alot of TECH PARKS, and best of all... now he have a Zhuge Liang Technician Guide that can show him the connections... I'll recommend him to go China, and build his empire, the market in China is much bigger!

isn't shenzhen the place where the commie masterminds cheated the Pappies and their bizness partners, then forced them to sell their shares?!?!?

those ah tiongs are even more untrustworthy than pappies who like to go by law.

bro da dick, it's SUZHOU, not Shenzhen.

It is a fact that the GLCs has little entrepreneurial skills nor do they have the products or contacts. What they have is a blank cheque to buy anything they think can make a profit. If it is profitable, it takes donkey years to realise the profits but when it is a loss investments, it takes only a year or slightly longer. These loss investments are huge losses, example, Micropolis, Chartered Semi-Con, Shin Corpm and many bank investments.

The GLCs make use of local companies business models and buy their way into their business and then kills them off. Locally they can do it but when they do it overseas they were the ones who were humiliated, example, Suzhou, Indosat, Global Crossing and others. The worst thing they did was although the business was going down the slippery slope they injected more money into it and subsequently lost even more. A good example was Micropolis.

I myself had been screwed by one of their GLCs so I have some experience on the tactics they used.
