I think the new Yang Di-Pertuan Agong will be much loved and respected by the rakyat coz he is relatively young and energetic. Hope he will be fair and reasonable too to his non-Malay non-Muslim subjects.

PEKAN, Pahang: It is common knowledge that the new Malaysian king is a huge football fan and a current council member of football's world governing body, FIFA.

What many don't know is that Sultan Abdullah Sultan Ahmad Shah is a Gooner, a term of endearment for fans of English Premier League club Arsenal.

He even watched them live in action a few times when he studied in London.

This was one of the nuggets of information shared by Sultan Abdullah’s protocol and special officer Abd Rahman Endut, 65, who has served the sixth Sultan of Pahang since 1974.

“The team is Arsenal. If you talk about (favourite) players, it is French striker Thierry Henry, who used to play for Arsenal, as well as the Gunners’ former goalkeeper Pat Jennings because he likes their style of play,” said the protocol officer.

“Although Arsenal’s colour is red, Sultan Abdullah actually likes blue,” he said as he shared the interests of the new king when interviewed by Bernama recently.

Sultan Abdullah was officially proclaimed as the 16th Malaysian king on Thursday (Jan 31) after taking his oath of office and signing the instrument of office at Istana Negara.

Mr Abd Rahman added that Sultan Abdullah, who is a skilful midfielder in football, is just as adept at hockey, tennis, golf, horse riding, scuba diving, squash and polo.

The king also has a licence to fly a helicopter and light aircraft.

He said Sultan Abdullah’s sporting spirit was evident since his younger days, adding that the king never liked to be handed easy wins as he wanted to be treated as an equal on the field.

“The many leg injuries he has endured were also a result of an old injury he suffered about 30 years ago after being tackled in a football match.

“Everyone panicked when His Majesty fell to the ground, but he was not angry at all, saying it was normal in sports,” Mr Abd Rahman recounted.

“I was worried because Tuanku was advised to get treatment at the hospital, but he did not want to, saying he feared he would be bored if he had to stay too long in the hospital.”

He said the king will never get upset if he failed to win any event he competed in because that proved the competition was held on a level playing field.

PASSION FOR BALLADS

Commenting on the king’s choice of music, Mr Abd Rahman said he likes listening to ballads.

The king’s favourite Malaysian artiste is Siti Nurhaliza Tarudin. His favourite Malaysian band is Spring, especially their song Pesanan Buat Kekasih.

“Tuanku loves listening to songs like Hello by Lionel Richie, How Deep Is Your Love (Bee Gees) and You’ve Got a Friend,” he said.

The king is also fond of Permata Untuk Isteri (Kopratasa) and Kenangan Lalu (Flybaits).

The protocol officer said that Sultan Abdullah used to watch movies at two cinemas in Kuantan which have since been converted into a furniture shop and hotel.

The king, he said, watched the Hindustani block-buster Haathi Mere Saathi, starring Rajesh Khanna, in 1971 and popular Indonesian movie Cinta Pertama in 1973.

SINGAPORE: President Halimah Yacob and Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong have written congratulatory messages to Malaysia's new king, Singapore's Ministry of Foreign Affairs said on Thursday (Jan 31).

Pahang's Sultan Abdullah Sultan Ahmad Shah ascended the throne as Malaysia's 16th king after he was elected by the Malay rulers last week, following the unexpected resignation of the previous monarch.

In a letter, Mdm Halimah said she looked forward to working closely with Sultan Abdullah to "further strengthen bilateral ties".

She also noted that Sultan Abdullah is widely respected for his generosity and concern for the welfare of Malaysians from all walks of life.

She added: "On behalf of the people of the Republic of Singapore, I would like to extend my warmest congratulations to Your Majesty on the auspicious occasion of Your Majesty’s assumption of office as the 16th Yang di-Pertuan Agong."

Mdm Halimah also extended well wishes to the queen: "My husband and I take this opportunity to wish Your Majesty and Her Majesty, the Raja Permaisuri Agong, good health and happiness."

In Mr Lee's letter, he said he was confident that Malaysia will reach "even greater heights of progress and success" under Sultan Abdullah.

He noted that Malaysia and Singapore share a long and unique history built on close people-to-people ties and mutually-beneficial cooperation across many sectors.

Both countries also work well in regional and international fora, he said.

"I am confident that our bilateral ties will strengthen further during Your Majesty’s reign."

Mr Lee added: "Ho Ching and I take this opportunity to send Your Majesty and Her Majesty, the Raja Permaisuri Agong, our respects and best wishes."

Sinkieland used to be run by a sultan too, now you get a selected president, nothing more than a puppet and a placeholder.

I bet a sultan would be much cheaper to maintain, and the traditional royal outfit would be much more popular with the tourists.

Former Agong, Russian pageant bride already divorced: Report

Love is patient; love is kind; and love is also fleeting. Reports have emerged this fine Monday that Kelantan Sultan Muhammad V, best known for this year’s shock abdication from his duties as Malaysia’s Agong (a rotating leadership role), previously known as the gentleman who kept Mahathir waiting a couple days to be sworn in post-general election, may have divorced his Russian beauty queen bride Oksana Voevodina, according to Astro Awani.
If unverified official documents are to be believed, the official filing date was June 22, in Singapore, with the motion being approved by Shariah Courts on July 1.
Only last week, the Sultana posted a photo detailing the magical love story between herself and the royal:

According to the documents, the divorce granted was a triple talak, a type of Islamic divorce where the talak (pronouncement of divorce) is repeated three times. It is a particularly harsh and serious form of divorce, often used to denote that the woman is haram (un-Islamic) to their partner.

The article goes on to state that in January, prior to their son being born in May, the couple were engulfed in divorce rumors (of the British tabloid variety), with their relationship described as being “on the brink” of dissolution. This mind you, was taking place more or less exactly as the Malaysian public was discovering the wedding had even happened.
News of Sultan Muhammad V’s nuptials to the 25-year-old Russian finally made local headlines late last year, though it would be weeks before anything was confirmed by either the palace, or government. At the time, the Sultan was on a three-month medical leave of absence from his duties, and it seems, used the extended break to stage an elaborate wedding in Moscow.
Eventually, Muhammad stepped down from his role as Agong, adding a plume to the hat of famous abdications in history. The couple had largely remained quiet ever since, though it was announced on social media that Oksana was pregnant, and later that she had given birth to a boy.
We’ll await word from the palace on the divorce, but considering how long it took them to confirm the marriage in the first place – don’t hold your breaths, Coconauts.

KUALA LUMPUR: The Russian-born ex-wife of Kelantan’s Sultan Muhammad V on Monday (Jul 22) thanked Malaysians for their support and kindness, after news of their divorce was confirmed at the weekend.
In an Instagram post to mark two months since the birth of her son, former beauty queen Rihana Oxana Gorbatenko did not address the divorce specifically.

However, she expressed gratitude to people from all over the world for their “kind and warm letters”.

She wrote: “I want to tell all the people from Malaysia: You have big hearts because you accepted and supported me – a girl who was born in another country and grown in a different culture.
“I am so proud that Malaysian blood flows in the veins of my son and I will do everything for him to grow worthy of your love.”
She added: “In my life, I have to face a lot of malice, slander and envy. But you convince me that there is a still a lot of kindness left in the world.”
Ms Rihana said she will keep sharing on social media in an “honest and open dialogue”. She has amassed more than 420,000 followers on Instagram.
On Saturday, the sultan’s lawyer said that the 49-year-old ruler "irrevocably divorced" Ms Rihana by three Talaqs on Jun 22.
The divorce was done in front of two competent Muslim witnesses and in accordance with Syariah laws, Mr Koh Tien Hua of Eversheds Harry Elias LLP said in a statement.
The lawyer would not comment on where the divorce took place.
“The Kelantan Syariah Court has issued a Divorce Certificate dated 1 July 2019 in accordance with the Islamic Family Law Enactment 2002,” the statement said.
According to Islamic law, three Talaqs is carried out when the divorce declaration is repeated three times by the husband.
It is the husband's right to dissolve the marriage by simply announcing to his wife that he repudiates her. The husband does not require court approval. He also does not need to provide a reason.
The Kelantan palace has not commented on the divorce or the marriage, despite several media reports earlier citing anonymous sources.
Mr Koh said that Ms Rihana has been informed of the divorce by her Russian lawyer.
The former Malaysian King reportedly married the former beauty queen last year. Ms Rihana is said to have given birth to a child in May.
Mr Koh added: "There is no objective evidence as yet as to the biological father of the child.
“On behalf of HRH Sultan Muhammad V, we asked that his privacy be respected.”
In January, Sultan Muhammad V, in an unprecedented move, stepped down as Malaysia’s king.
His unexpected move triggered an election among the royals. Under the country’s constitutional monarchy, one of the nine Malay rulers or sultans will ascend the federal throne to become the king for a five-year term.
Pahang's Sultan Abdullah Sultan Ahmad Shah was elected as king.

RUSSIAN beauty queen Oksana Voevodina married the ex-King of Malaysia at a lavish royal wedding ceremony in Moscow.
But what happened after Sultan Muhammad V of Kelatan gave up the throne for the model, 24 years his junior?

Not much is known about Oksana apart from her winning the Miss Moscow contest three years ago.
She is Russian and the daughter of a doctor.

Her dad Andrey Gorbatenko, who is an orthopaedic surgeon from Rostov-on-Don, is believed to be in his late 50s.
Images showing her marrying the former King of Malaysia Muhammad V of Kelantan, 50, in Russia, appeared on social media in December 2018. He gave up the throne to marry her.
Her mother was a beauty contestant in a local contest in Penza in the early 1990s soon after the collapse of the USSR.
In November 2018, it was reported that the beauty queen took part in a reality TV show where she romped in a swimming pool.

Little is known about the circumstances surrounding how the pair met and it is unclear whether she has been married before.
According to the Daily Mail, who spoke to a beauty contest director, Ms Voevodina is said to have met the king 18 months ago in Europe when she was modelling luxury watches.
But her husband took leave from his role in November "following treatment" only to reappear later in pictures showing his marriage to Voevodina.
She was said to have converted to Islam and adopted the Muslim name Rihana.
Is the Russian beauty queen still married to the former King of Malaysia?
Sultan Muhammad V of Kelatan has split from his Russian model wife just weeks after their son was born, according to reports.
They have divorced six months after their union rocked Malaysian high society, the Straits Times says.
The divorce was registered on July 1 with a certificate bearing the Kelantan state crest and is marked as the copy of the wife, indicates that the divorce was done through the utterance of the word "talak" three times - the most severe and irreversible form of divorce in Islam.
It states that the divorce was registered in Singapore.
The British educated Sultan abdicated early this year after revealing pictures and lurid sex claims were published about his new wife's past life as a reality TV show star in her homeland.
Oksana confirmed the birth of a son, whom she had on 21 May - the first child of her royal husband Muhammad, who is 24 years her senior.

A divorce certificate from Singapore has emerged online and has been confirmed to be genuine
She posted a series of family photos to Instagram with messages in both English and Russian.
One photo shows the new mum cradling her baby's feet in one hand.
She captioned the snap: "21 May 2019 - the day when my life was divided into 'before' and 'after'.
"Everything that I was told about the changes occurring with a woman after the birth of a baby is true.
"This love is special. These feelings are completely new. I am grateful to Allah and my husband for our son. Now there are three of us."
The new mother also revealed her baby's full name as Tengku Ismail Leon Petra Bin Tengku Muhammad V Faris Petra.

"Mr Koh added: "There is no objective evidence as yet as to the biological father of the child."

After the baby was born 2 months ago, no DNA was conducted?

I wonder why did his lawyer have to add this statement?

Highly suspicious circumstances for a divorce to occur so soon after a new born baby had added bliss to an apparently happily married couple.

A MALAYSIAN ex-king who split from his Russian model wife just weeks after their son was born has now claimed he might not be the baby's father.

The 50-year-old monarch has now cast doubt on the paternity of the couple's newborn.
Singaporean lawyer Koh Tien Hua, speaking on behalf of the sultan, told the Straits Times: “There is no objective evidence as yet as to the biological father of the child.”
He added: "On behalf of His Royal Highness, we request his privacy be respected."
Voevodina, 27, a former Russian beauty queen, is believed to have returned to Russia with the child, and last week claimed that she was still married.
Speaking to a Malaysian news outlet, she said: "This is an act of provocation. We have never been divorced."
In a video posted on Instagram, she also said: "I want to be the last person in his life, and I want to live with him until the end of my life."
But a copy of the divorce certificate has surfaced online and been confirmed to be genuine by a source of the New Straits Times.
The certificate, which bore the Kelantan state crest, said the divorce was registered on July 1, and is marked as being the wife's copy.
It indicated the divorce was registered in Singapore and was done by the utterance three times of the word "talak" - the most serious form of divorce in Islam.

Alongside the announcement were a series of glamorous new pictures from Oksana's pregnancy and Moscow wedding.
In one snap, she wears a silk and lace dressing gown whilst cradling her bump.

The caption reads: "It was the most important and, at the same time, the most difficult period in my life.
"The last three months of pregnancy I spent in hospitals, staying in bed with (drips in) both hands. I had too many difficulties with pregnancy.
"The support of my closest people and my love for my son and Faith in the best helped me in that not simple time."
In another glamorous pregnancy snap, she refers to her new son: "One day you will see this photo. You are not born here yet.
"But I already love you with unconditional universal love …"
And recalling her Moscow marriage, she said: "I want to say thank you to the people who shared this happy moment with us and were together with us that evening!
"It was wonderful and beautiful wedding…"
Oksana also confirmed she and the then king underwent a secret Muslim wedding some five months before her very public ceremony in Moscow, where she wore a dress she had been "dreaming about since childhood".
She and the former monarch will mark the anniversary of their nuptials this Friday.
WHO IS OKSANA VOEVODINA?
Oksana is the the daughter of a Russian orthopaedic surgeon and won the Miss Moscow contest three years ago.
In November 2018, it was reported that the beauty queen took part in a reality TV show under a fake name where she romped in a swimming pool.
The show featured 11 young Russians thrust together at a luxury Sol de Occidente villa in Mexico belonging to Russian actress Zhanna Friske.
An advert for the programme said they "lived there making love to each other from time to time and emotionally discussing their relations”.
Reports surfaced she had had sex with male contestant Elisey Polischuk in a swimming pool.
Pictures from the show were widely publicised amid claims those in conservative Malaysia disapproved.
Oksana, who converted to Islam to marry, adopted the name Rihana and is now known as Rihana Oksana Petra.
Some have suggested she has used the birth of her son to clear rumours that surfaced in January that her relationship with the ex-king was in trouble after his abdication.

Little is known about the circumstances surrounding how the pair met and it is unclear whether she has been married before.
According to the Daily Mail, who spoke to a beauty contest director, Ms Voevodina is said to have met the king 18 months ago in Europe when she was modelling luxury watches.

The triple talak divorce, the fastest way to secure a divorce in islam, is a privilege granted only to moslem men. Islam regards women has having half the intelligence of men, and there has been no recorded instance in islam's entire history where women are treated as equal to men, with their rights protected. Islam likes to talk big about how they protect women, but there's no evidence of that in action.

I was told by a Lebanese shiite guy that the only way to reverse such a divorce was to let another guy fuck your ex wife. Fun times for all

A RUSSIAN beauty queen has posted a heartbreaking picture of the baby son disowned by her ex-husband, the former King of Malaysia.
Rihanna Oksana Veovodina, 27, married Sultan Muhammad V, 49, in a secretive ceremony in Moscow last year, but the two reportedly divorced suddenly earlier this month.

Veovodina gave birth to a son in May, but was forced to challenge the Sultan to take a paternity test after his lawyers said there was "no objective evidence... as to the biological father of the child".
She has also questioned whether the divorce is valid, telling a Malaysian news outlet: "This is an act of provocation. We have never been divorced."

Posting a picture of herself holding her son on Instagram this week, Veovodina wrote: "I'm writing and I can not resist the tears from flowing...
"And I do not think it's necessary to hold it, because it's a cry of joy and gratitude!
"I want to tell all Malaysians: you are all great souls, for receiving and supporting me - a woman from a foreign country and growing up with different cultures.
"I am very proud of the blood of Malaysia flowing in my child."

She added: "In my life, I had to face various kinds of crimes, deceit and malicious misfortune.
"But you assure me that there is still good in this world."
SHOCK ABDICATION
The sultan announced his shock abdication from the Malaysian throne in January, just months after the couple wed, but earlier this month a copy of a divorce certificate surfaced online.
The reasons for both the abdication and the separation remain uncertain, but both are thought to be related to rumours surrounding Veovodina's past life in Russia as a model and beauty queen.
The certificate, which bore the Kelantan state crest, has reportedly been confirmed to be genuine by a source quoted by the New Straits Times.
It said the divorce was registered on July 1, and was marked as being the wife's copy.
It also indicated the divorce was registered in Singapore and done by the utterance three times of the word "talak" - the most serious form of divorce in Islam.

'SO GRATEFUL FOR OUR SON'
In the weeks after the birth of the couple's son on May 21, Voevodina posted a series of family photos to Instagram with messages in both English and Russian.
"I am grateful to Allah and my husband for our son.
"Now there are three of us."

The Russian beauty queen at the centre of a divorce row with the former King of Malaysia has challenged him to take a DNA test after he claimed their son may not be his.
Rihana Oksana Veovodina married Sultan Muhammad V last year and he dramatically gave up his throne in January amid growing pressure over their relationship.
The Sultan now claims they have divorced, and is said to have 'disinherited' their two-month-old child Leon after raising doubts over the baby's parentage.
His lawyer Koh told a Singapore newspaper there was 'no objective evidence as yet as to the biological father of the child'.

But friends of the former Miss Moscow insist the marriage is still valid and have angrily rejected the Sultan's suggestion that someone else fathered the child - claiming that father and son 'share one face'.

Oksana, who is now living with her child in a country house near Moscow, is now demanding a 'public apology' from the former head of state.
Her close friend Liliya Nastaeva, 32, said today of the Sultan's fatherhood claims: 'What nonsense.

'If Oksana had ever shown the face of a child, no one would have any doubts, because father and son share one face.'
Asked if the Sultan had seen the child, Liliya - who formerly ran a Moscow beauty parlour with Oksana - replied: 'I don't think I can talk about it.'
Oksana's lawyer in Moscow, Evgeny Tarlo, a former Russian senator, told MailOnline the fatherhood claims were 'lies' and a 'vulgar stupidity'.
He challenged the Singapore lawyer to prove he was acting for the ex-king.
'I do not know who Mr Koh Tien Hua is, and by what right is he commenting on the personal life of Oksana Voevodina,' he said.
'He must show his credentials.'
He insisted to Komsomolskaya Pravda news paper in Moscow that there had been no divorce, despite widespread reports to the contrary.
'There was no divorce, I tell you with all responsibility,' he said.
'As for paternity, what is there to comment on? It is they who must prove that the child is a stranger, and it is not for us to justify ourselves.

Friends of the former Miss Moscow (pictured in her beauty queen days) insist the marriage is still valid and have rejected the Sultan's suggestion that someone else could have fathered the child
'Oksana is a married woman, and Faris [the ex-king] is the father of her child. It is immutable.'
Royal sources have said that the Sultan intends to 'provide for' the mother and child but they have not been granted royal titles.
The couple married in a secret Islamic ceremony on June 7 last year, when Muhammad V still ruled as King of Malaysia.
A further ceremony then followed in November 2018 in Moscow, details of which leaked out to the media.
Concerns began to grow in Malaysia after lurid reports emerged about the beauty queen's past, including a Russian reality show appearance in which she was reportedly filmed having sex in a swimming pool.
A collection of raunchy modelling pictures also began to circulate, fuelling further discontent in conservative Malaysia.
Facing growing pressure, Sultan Muhammad V dramatically gave up his throne in January this year to be with the Russian model.

Oksana Veovodina, the Russian beauty queen who married a Malaysian sultan, released a video of the pair talking about their marriage amid reports that they have gotten divorced
Former Miss Moscow marries Malaysia's King Muhammad

The abdication was the first for the country since its independence from British rule in 1957.
Lawyers for the Sultan insist that the couple have now divorced after Muhammad performed a ceremony in which he rejected his wife three times in the presence of witnesses.
However, the divorce proceedings have been shrouded in secrecy, and Kelantan officials earlier denied any knowledge of them.
Oksana has not commented directly on the latest twists but posted: 'When you are a good person, you don't lose people, people lose you.'
Earlier she insisted she was 'so proud that Malaysian blood flows in the veins of my son', also saying she hoped one day he would be Malaysian king.
The royal bride's father Andrey Gorbatenko refused to comment on the scandal.
'I'm sorry, I won't say anything, I'm on holiday,' he said.
Previously he said that if he doubted the king he would not have given his blessing to their marriage.
After Muhammad's abdication, Sultan Abdullah Sultan Ahmad Shah - a keen athlete who holds a string of positions on sporting bodies - was chosen as Malaysia's new king during a special meeting of the country's Islamic royalty.
Malaysia has unique arrangement where the national throne changes hands every five years between the Islamic royal rulers of the country's nine states.
