Mandy Lieu sued to handover mortgaged luxury flat

24 Dec – Amid the Alvin Chau illegal gambling scandal, Melco Resorts (Macau) Limited was recently revealed to have sued Mandy Lieu, the former mistress of the said businessman, for the luxury Hong Kong property which she mortgaged to the company.
In a document filed at the High Court on 21 December, the company demanded the former Malaysian model to hand over the flat on the 38th floor of Argenta, 63 Seymour Road, and to repay the mortgage of the flat, which she used as guarantor for a loan to bail Alvin out of his financial problems back in November.
Documents also showed that Alvin's Sun City Gaming Promotion was named as the borrower and Melco Resorts (Macau) as the lender.
Mandy reportedly bought the property in 2014
No information has been released at to the value of the mortgage.
According to online records provided by Midland Realty, Mandy purchased the said luxury flat back in 2014 for HK$91 million and the property is now believed to be valued at HK$120 million.
Alvin was arrested back on 28 November alongside ten others by Macau's Directorate of Judiciary Police for running a cross-border gambling syndicate, which enabled mainland Chinese to bet illegally online.
He is currently in detention to prevent him from fleeing Macau.
Mandy was involved with the already-married Alvin in 2014 and gave birth to his child the next year. The couple reportedly ended the relationship in 2019 as the businessman refused to divorce his wife Heidi Chan.
Mandy is currently living in the UK with their children.
