Apprehension, tempered by hope.
That's how some residents at JC Ville – a cluster of 14 townhouses – feel following news that the Chan family of Everitt Road have reportedly moved into their estate.
The Chans had been at the centre of a long-running spat with seven families in their Everitt Road neighbourhood.
The feud has been making headlines since 2004 with suits and counter-suits.
It began over a parking space and soon escalated into a turf war involving chains, video cameras and allegations of abuse on both sides.
Lianhe Wanbao reported that the Chans moved into their new home yesterday at JC Ville, less than 1km from their previous home.
And the news has made some residents of the estate, which is more than 20 years old, jittery.
But the Chan's ex-neighbours are relieved. A man who lives two units away from the Chans' former home on Everitt Road likened the development to striking it rich.
This 56-year-old, who wished to be known only as Mr Chua (pictured above right), said: "It is good news that they are finally leaving."
Other residents also expressed relief in interviews with Lianhe Wanbao. "We are finally able to eat and sleep in peace," said one.
