日媒指出，日本車輛製造公司也說，包括事故車輛在內，賣給台灣的19組列車都有一樣的問題，只要台灣要求，日本車輛就會維修。
台鐵一列普悠瑪10月21日在宜蘭縣出軌翻車，造成18死、上百人受傷，事故原因仍在調查中，目前已確定列車上的ATP關閉。事故後，一度以為普悠瑪列車未裝ATP遠端監視系統，後來釐清是有裝未使用，立法委員段宜康指聽說是普悠瑪原廠問題，配線和圖不一致。
時代力量籍立委黃國昌在臉書貼出日本車輛製造公司給台鐵信函，指出有關ATP遠端監視功能用配線，未連接行車調度無線電話系統，推測可能為設計人員確認不足，配線在未連接狀態下，交由台鐵驗收。
日本車輛製造公司在信中也提到，有關配線是否正確連接的檢測確認，由於日本車輛製造公司無權使用地上設備與行控中心，無法進行相關檢測。就日本車輛製造公司認知，檢測為台鐵於車輛驗收後自行實施。檢測及之後運用的實際情況，日本車輛製造公司無法掌握。
