Jackie Chan’s former lover Elaine Ng ‘questioned in child cruelty probe’

The beauty queen ex-lover of action superstar Jackie Chan has been released on bail after being arrested in an investigation into allegations of child cruelty.
Former Miss Asia winner Elaine Ng Yi-lei, 42, was arrested on Wednesday and released the same day without charge after being questioned by police following a complaint from staff at a school in the New Territories, according to a police source. The alleged victim cannot be identified for legal reasons.
In a search of Ng's home in Tai Po following her arrest police found a small amount of suspected illegal narcotics, the source said, adding that investigations into both the main allegation and the suspected drug find were ongoing. Ng has been asked to report back to police in mid-May.
In an interview with local media at her home on Friday, Ng, who spoke from behind drawn window blinds, denied the allegations, adding: "Children are sometimes naughty, and they do something wrong when they are naughty. I think adults can deal with these things."
Ng first found fame as winner of the 1990 Miss Asia pageant, before going on to star in TVB dramas. She now hosts a radio programme called Love Beyond Limits for online station DBC, on which she invites celebrities to share love stories.
But she is best known for her affair with Chan, 60. The relationship came to light in 1999, when after much speculation she announced that she was pregnant and had had a relationship with the star. Chan said at the time he had "only committed a fault that every single man in the world commits".
The actor has been in the spotlight in recent months.
In January, his son Jaycee was jailed for six months and fined 2,000 yuan (HK$2,500) in Beijing for possession of drugs. He was detained in August and then served his full term behind bars. He was picked up along with the Taiwanese actor Ko Chen-tung at a foot massage parlour in the capital on August 14 after officers received a tip-off.
They found more than 100 grams of marijuana at Jaycee Chan's home. He admitted "sheltering others to use drugs", which carries up to three years in jail. He was granted a lighter sentence because he volunteered information about his drug use.
