I do not know about indonesia and the philippines but in thailand's case the female pm is actually a proxy standing in for her brother. Thaksin is wanted by the govt so he obviously cannot return to thailand so he uses his sister to represent him. That's not counted.




If you want to talk about the WP winning the pongol election well let's remember the circumstances. PAP mp palmer had an affair and was forced to resign this obviously brings a very bad rep to the PAP. That incident alone brings the pap downwards combined with the other factors like daily livelihood and everything else makes the PAP hated combined with a newbie to run for like 2 weeks which residents don't even know who he is but clearly know the party that he represents. In any case the PAP had no chance to win. The WP could have fielded a monkey and they would probably had won. Just like what goldendragon wrote even if they fielded more heavyweight PAP personalities they would not have won. This BE shouldn't be used as an example that sg would have a female PM soon. Comeon.

No! She stood as the Number One Peau Thai Party List member and she led the campaigning for the party. The people voted for Peau Thai Party knowing fully that she will be PM if the party won!! Eventually they got a landslide victory (Thai standard).

As such, she was voted by the people! if that does not count, what does?

Yes she is Thaksin's sister. Yes she listen to her brother. But the undeniable fact remains that she is the PM voted by majority Thai people!
