台北市一名29歲的彭姓女子，6月份離租屋處，竟棄養家裡14隻貓，其中11隻貓咪被活活餓死，而且屍體還被飢餓的同類啃食精光，剩下的3隻貓也餓的只剩皮包骨，整間公寓因為滿是排洩物和貓屍發出惡臭，鄰居報案後事件才曝光，警方將約談彭姓女子，如果確定是虐待動物致死，動保處最高可開罰50萬元。
整間公寓滿是貓咪排泄物，瀰漫惡臭，動保人員不斷在公寓內尋找貓咪，卻發現只剩下骨頭和貓毛，身上的肉被活下來的貓咪啃食精光，讓動保處人員看了頭皮發麻。動保處人員王瑋：「有很多貓只剩下骨頭，因為都被吃光了，所以沒有肉只剩下脊椎，牠連肋骨什麼都拔掉了。」
現場發現有11隻貓，陸續被活活餓死，臨死之前，疑似餓到受不了，只好吃同類的屍體，但還是難逃死亡命運，最後只剩下3隻貓咪逃過一劫，餓到只剩下皮包骨，動保處追查後發現，29歲的彭姓女子幾個月前在延平北路這間公寓3樓，養了14隻貓，6月份搬家的時候，卻不把牠們帶走，惡意棄養。
北市動保處處長嚴一峯：「她在6月的時候，聽說就已經沒有繳房租，8月的時候房東都已經通知妳，用簡訊，但還是仍然造成這個悲劇。」
棄養貓咪，讓牠們餓到同類相殘，已經涉嫌虐待動物，可處1年以下徒刑，最高罰50萬，動保處已經報警處理，要求這名飼主到案說明。
