Qiu'er was suspected of being abused after being adopted.

Animal cruelists reappear, and the Attorney General releases the suspect again! There is news on the Internet that in February this year, a couple who claimed to be a teacher adopted cats from various animal institutions. During this period, some cats reported that they were killed by breaking their bones, and many cats were injured. Volunteers and animal organizations report to the police. The animal agency recently received a reply from the police stating that it would not prosecute anyone due to insufficient evidence. This once again caused an uproar from all walks of life, questioning the Attorney General's "release" of the killer of animals in a short period of time.

In early February this year, the Hong Kong Rescue Cats and Dogs Association received a notice from a pair of adopters stating that Santa and Qiuer, the cats adopted in December last year, were caught between the bottom of the bed and the mattress. And died; the latter returned with multiple injuries to his body. Linda, the person in charge, said that Qiu'er who was returned had obvious injuries. Two front teeth were knocked off, half of his face was swollen, his tail was hairless and there were scars. The other party even claimed that Qiu'er was chased and injured by other cats. After chasing until the front teeth were thrown, the doctor said that only a big impact would happen." She thought that two cats had suffered such injuries in a short time, which was very suspicious, so she called the police.

Two animal agencies blacklisted

Linda said that seven months after the incident, he received a reply from the police on Monday, stating that there was insufficient evidence after the incident was investigated to prosecute the person involved. In order to find out the truth, the association arranged autopsy and laboratory tests for Santa after the incident to understand the cause of death, and brought another injured Qiu'er to seek medical treatment to study the injury, but in the end only the police "insufficient evidence" did not explain the situation. , So call the police to follow up the investigation process.

She worries that if the police stop the investigation, there will be no way to find out the truth for the victim cat, and she does not know how to pursue it. Linda also pointed out that in addition to adopting cats in his association, the persons involved also adopted other volunteers and animal organizations. At present, the organizations and animal volunteers have put them on the "blacklist".

No reason for prosecution and failure to explain

Kwong Chun-yu, a member of Parliament who is concerned about animal rights, said that the Department of Justice has repeatedly released suspected animal abusers under conclusive evidence, and has not explained the reasons for not making prosecutions. It is difficult to understand. To put it bluntly: However, the Secretary of Justice turned his head to release people, making it difficult for people from all walks of life to understand and accept the incident. They should explain to the public the reasons for not prosecuting." He worried that this action of the Attorney General would promote the trend of animal abuse in the future.

A police spokesman said that on February 16 this year, the Ngau Tau Kok Police Station received a report from a female staff member of an agency that a couple had adopted a cat from their agency earlier. The cat died later and was suspected of being caught Improper treatment. The police arrived at the scene and found after preliminary investigation that there were no superficial injuries on the cat's body. The case was classified as "animal carcass found". The police later submitted relevant laboratory reports and investigation results to the Department of Justice for legal advice. The Department of Justice decided not to prosecute the case after considering the evidence.
