More like the ground is getting less sweet as time goes by, so it's better to hold an early election and cut your losses.

Honestly, i think it makes no difference. Ground sweet or not, PAP is in for a rude awakening. I opine at least another GRC and a SMC will go to the opposition.

I think Pinkie will accept the losss of 1 GRC & 1 SMC anytime. They still get another 5 years to screw S'poreans & fix opposition.

But I don't think election will be held this year. Maybe in 2015, when S'pore reach 50 years, and PAP giving big Ang Pow as part of the celebrations.

Also not likely to be held soon after LKY demise, too. LHL will not want to be seen to be using his old man death to win votes. Very unfilial, IMO.

I also don't think the GE will be this year. It's to close to the unpopular policies e.g. recent bus fare hikes, population white paper, ...

17 Feb: The registers of electors have been revised and are open for public inspection from 18 Feb 2014 to 3 Mar 2014. Singapore Citizens may check their particulars in the revised registers online, or at community centres/clubs, Singapore overseas missions that serve as overseas polling stations and Elections Department with their NRIC/passport.

Some disjointed bits and pieces of information I had gleaned from my PAP associates:

a) PAP Branch Secretaries have started to update their membership lists. Those whose membership have lapsed and are not interested in renewing are still being invited to attend gatherings/meetings.

b) The current $16K election deposit will be revised upwards.

c) GCT will step down. (Nobody wants to speculate on LKY.)

d) Some MPs will be dropped for not being pro-active in upholding the PAP image.

e) A handful of new citizens with impressive qualifications will be fielded as candidates.
