Is the old Singapore better than the new Singapore.

Look at it this way.
Compared to the 1950s to 1970s, the general population is better off today.
The medical system I think is much better now than it was in the past.

The old days were very good because everyone was young and there were no high expectations.

Now everyone wants to compete with each other.

And the main complain now of course is:

CECA here CECA there and CECA everywhere.

lol

U think too much liao .... moi sad is becos' if reminds that moi loss youth and nearer to coffin everyday now ....

Old Singapore is definitely better.
Got my semi-D in District 11 for only $48K and my Austin-mini for $3K.

Don't be sad leh. We all tend to reflect on the good old days when we were young.
lol

Be grateful to God instead that he gave vast majority of Sinkies a fairly good lifestyle inspite of all the complaints which is part of human nature.

And just before I read your post someone who was in hospital told me that a woman in the nearby bed in hospital was screaming the whole day and night.

She is 104 years old.

I am sure she was pleading with God not to give her such a long life.

Walweeeeeiiiiiiiiiiii
So good I have to repost again
Anyone leemember this song?

My parents were university-educated PMEs in the 1960s, who could afford 2 landed homes and a car on their salaries. A working class couple holding degrees nowadays will live in a HDB flat and rely on public transport.

We were fortunate to have the leaders in the 60s 70s, & 80s, we might not financially well off but our lives were so much happier than after late 90s.
PAP ministers in the 1970s and 80s wanted to grow S'pore's wealth. The ministers of today are only interested in growing their own wealth - nothing else.

LKY set our ministers on the road to becoming mercenaries by introducing money politics into the SG govt. He overpayed himself and his cronies big time.

Riding through the streets of Singapore in 1967

As the video begins, it's as though I've stepped into a time machine, whisked away to a cherished era I've wandered through countless times in my dreams. The swaying coconut trees, the quaint shop houses, the boy pedaling his bicycle, and the vintage buses and cars—they paint a picture of my Singapore, a place of timeless beauty and nostalgia. Oh, how enchanting it is!

Thank you so much for sharing this video. I was in Pri 5 in 1967. I still recognise the streets and many of the buildings, though many no longer exist. This nostalgic moment made me shed a tear.

At least debt load on every one is lighter Loh :)
