name some political exiles.
1. ex-pap n ex-sg president, devan nair
from pet to pest - happy beginning, sad ending.
2. tan liang hong - from bungalow owner lawyer to fugitive on the run.
one wrong verbal outburst and a lifetime of misery. sad :(
3. tan wah peow - from ex-student activist in the 80s to political refugee now setlling peacefully in UK .
who else? many more. chia thye poh - cursed with life imprisonment without trial.....then there was teo ser long, petite little lawyer who was ISD locked up and accused in marxist conspiracy. jailed without trial. her associate tang fong har - same fate. vincent cheng and even the arch-bishop not spared....and many more.
the question that is troubling me is:
WHY SHOULD SUCH UNPLEASANT EVENTS BE OCCURING IN SINGAPORE - A TINY LITTLE COUNTRY, a little red dot that is obscurely visibly in the world atlas??
was there a crime really committed and punishment meted out with fairness and justice? is our stars in the sg flag still shine proud??
i wonder.
now there is a change to be happening soon.
THAT CHANGE LIES IN OUR VERY HAND - our invaluable rights to vote. so vote very carefully and decided whether there should be a legacy change, a toning down of long overdue power of dominancy and our rights to voice out how and who should regulate our livelihood for a better and fairer living standard.
it's time singapore stop being so bo chap and too complacent relying totally on the gov to run our lives. '
IT'S OUR LIFE. WE RUN IT....AND JUST RUN IT!
