Unless he postponed the launch of this book or removed the contents entirely, readers will still find it and talk about it. But I think he wanted this book out before he goes...

Its better to "air it" then to let readers read it and then blow it up in the alternate forum and let the press pick it up.

it also provides the opportunity for the other ministers to do some firefighting...election coming lah...got to step into the lime light a bit...otherwise people will forget about them.

My guess is that he won't be standing in the coming GE, i.e. he will be stepping down.
He knows that as a politician, he will become irrelevant. Not as an adviser or policymaker however, he will be relevant as long as he can think and his son is the PM.

This is the chance for his son to refute the controversial comments he made, even to the extent of disagreeing with him vehemently.
That will make him very popular with people in SG and even with people outside of SG, especially with our SEA neighbours and the rising middle east.

Now, who's giving odds on his stepping down before the GE? :o

In any case, although he stands in Tanjong Pagar GRC, he does not do the actual meet the people sessions...so its just symbolic for the last term. So, why not continue?

We'll see, I don't have any "privildeged" information at all, just a guess.
My guess is that he will step down, and this is a great opportunity for LHL to "step up", if not in position, at least in gaining favour from people in SG and outside as well.
A chance to disagree strongly with him whereby there will not be any political fallout, but rather net gain.
The PM of course will not change. Another guess is that there will not be a new MM.
