Have to agree with you on this. A Rolex everywhere in Thailand, Indonesia, Tsaiwan and China (the areas I'm more familiar with) is a highly regarded timepiece regardless of the model even the cheapest one.

Mine is the cheap, cheap one... It was all I could afford 30 years ago.

Still going strong.... $600 servicing every 5 years so you never actually make any money.

It's impossible to "maintain" in hot, humid Singapore. You wear a leather strap still it smells so bad you have to get a new one.

If a Grand Seiko makes you happy, go for it. You can't take your money with you but you can certainly use it to live a satisfying life.

As for me I'm looking forward to owning a Fortuner to take me from A to B.

Sure will do. Fortuner in Thailand costs 1.1 to 1.6mil baht. Look really nice in video. Will go take a look in 2 weeks time when I back.

lolex chiong pieces a lot, so after market value might not be that great. Hia dee will probably give you $488 for old time sake.

Yes Grand Seiko has built its name in Japan, everything in the watch is hand crafted in Japan,
on sale domestically, no export sale by Seiko, only those who visit Japan can purchase them at High Price!

If you intend to get hold on of of this Seiko Grand, prepare not to sell it, its very difficult to sell off
even at 2/3 of your purchase price, I've seen a Seiko Prospex 600m very beautiful watch. put on sale since last year, to date its can't sell..starting price $4k than reduce to $3.8K ..the seller asked buyers to offer! Unless the buyer let go at $2k?? maybe some one will grab!

However a Rolex would tell a different story, example if you purchase say a Rolex Submariner LV
for $8k you can sell them off for $9k if the watch is kept in pristine condition complete with box and certificate!!

A Seiko is always a Seiko be it Seiko Grand, no doubt its very accurate! still cant beat a Rolex!!
in term of re-sale value and demand!

Rolex is liquid cash.
Not only sell can pawn also. Gambling dens also take in.
When pawn during hard times....if can't redeem pawn ticket still can sell for cash.
I recommend you to tai shan pawnshop for best deal....forget about sim lian and bedok pawnshop although the latter takes in most other brands.
That said I'm a connoisseur. I only collect Rolex sports model and nothing else. The odd AP Roo also can.
No panerai for me though many say that is the new rolex

You wear a GS. And someone recognizes it as a GS. You have taste.

I equate Rolexes with Chivas Regals/Johnny Walkers. A GS is like a Samaroli (if you have never tried one ...well, that's you).

For time a $70 watch perform the same function and for fashion a $70 watch could be better looking.
For show off to char bor cash is king.
I cannot think of a reason to own a watch anything above 1k

the only jap product that i carry with me is a canon camera. for timepieces over us$5k, i highly recommend the vacheron constantin around the $7k range. don't need to pronounce it. just flash it.

about less than 6.9 years from now, all that will be a waste of time (no pun intended) and figments of past glories as apple takes the cake and dominates the smart-jewelry and timepiece market. old foggies who love old watches will die off and millenials who care shit about antiquated watches will rule. it's not a matter of whether it will happen, it's a matter of when.

With this reasoning, the only car worth buying in SG would be a Chery. And everyone should just stay in a standard HDB flat. And why bother to eat chicken rice? Plain rice and boiled chicken should suffice.

unless TS is a multi millionaire then 7k is nothing so no need ask just buy lor.
For every sinkie that are non multi millionaire yes all should stay hdb and reno nice nice to enjoy. The reno cost is way below to condo and terrace cost.
As for eating , well eating nice seafood is good enjoyment and not that costly as compare to a 7k watch lor.
