Just wondering, have you ask yourself these questions, if not then for the sake of one's children;

1. What is IQ/intellience?
2. Can IQ/intelligence be trained and improved?
3. If so how to train IQ/intelligence?

4. What is wisdom?
5. Can wisdom be trained and improved?
6. If so how to train wisdom?

Comments please.

High IQ doesnt prove anything nor does it equal to Intelligence.. It has been debunked long time ago that High IQ = Intelligence.

PAPER SMART VS STREET SMART?

Do not confuse Education with Intelligence, When education merely means Educating one in the Subjects of etc.. English, Math, Social Studies... You cant say a person who is skilled in Technical & Mechanical stuffs but didnt not go to school to be less intelligence then a Person who was Educated to lets say A'Level. Get what im trying to get at..Abit vague.....

You are talking about intelligence and acquistion of knowledge, being knowlegeable dont equate intelligence.

Then what is intelligence:confused: What is wisdom:confused:

Read my question and think, hope to see more comments and discuss.

To me Intelligence = General Knowledge.. General Knowledge both in the Streets and Understanding things that involve you and things that happen around you.

A wide range of Knowledge(Not necessary understanding Fully but at a certain level when you can see the Picture)

Then what is Intelligence if its not BEING knowledgeable in all things that evolve around you.

I will equate EQ = Wisdom.

Wisdom comes from insights. And insights can only be gained through direct experiences.

Yes I will tell my kids to go out there, focus and do one thing at a time to get the best out of the experience. :)

my comments ...

iq can b improved 2 a certain xtent by trying out ze questions ... after dat, u hit ur limits ...

wisdom can oni b gained from eating salt ... iz living xperience, dun really haf short cuts ...

Yes Wisdom to me is also EQ.

Wisdom comes from having Empathy. Empathy comes from living life and Seeing things + Life Experience and Understanding Life as an Individual and Understanding life on a Society/Civilization level.(And being Humble in your understanding)

Let me add this.. I used to try IQ test long time ago.. And i noticed that after each time over a Period.. My IQ level would Increase, Cos i got a Rough idea on what the Questions were about.. Once you understand the Questions you will understand how to go after the Answer. So IQ to me honestly is something like Math.. You keep on doing it and Your level will keep on going up. Many people basically dont understand the Question, so they will score low, Just like myself.. Slowly i started to understand the Questions and i could easliy get the Answers.. P.S not the same IQ Test or Same Question but A no. of different IQ Test and Questions but all this Questions always comes back to the same thing..

IQ, Understanding the Question and how you go after the Answer. Like i said before, Many individuals doesnt seem to understand the Question so they will score low.. But after doing it repeatedly they will understand what the Question is about and they will logically will know how to find the Ans or in Which manner to go after it.

Bro I meant EQ = Wisdom.

Think these ppl you mentioned has gained no insights on their experiences. Not enough self-reflection perhaps.

IQ = Intelligence Quotient.
Hence IQ is in fact a measure of intelligence.
In my opinion, it is inborn and measured via a series of tests on logical deduction.
It can be improved slightly, by doing lots of intelligence/logical tests. But not significantly.
One example would be this:
In this series of numbers, what is next?
1, 3, 9, 27, 81, ?
The answer I believe should be 243.

In the sports folder, rugby world cup thread, I suggested another type of test.
Given a rugby score, state the number of tries scored.
For example, if a team scores 21 points, they could have scored 3 converted tries, 7 penalties/drop goals or 3 unconverted tries and 3 penalties/drop goals.

Wisdom is accumulation of knowledege and experiences, which is gained by reading, discussion or via real experiences.
It requires some intelligence to process these facts and experiences, such that u can use them to tackle problems or not to repeat mistakes.
Don't totally agree with MCH that wisdom = EQ. In my opinion, wisdom is wider.
Someone who is wise would generally have high EQ (and fairly high IQ) but someone with high EQ need not be "wise".

Similarly, someone who is wise needs to have fairly high IQ but someone with high IQ need not be "wise". :o

u cannot compare persons a wif b ...

4 ze same person who has eaten lots of salt n crossed lots of bridges, dat person is stil wiser dan wen he/she was younger ...

IQ is yardstick for intelligence, and one can be trained to circumvent the methods of measurements, to the extend that the results of the measure is no longer reflective of the subject of measure.

Notwithstanding the yardstick..............then back to post #1, what is intelligence, etc.....

I know intelligence and wisdom is not an easy topic, that why I am throwing it out to get comments from bros here.:)

You are equating Intelligence with an IQ test. The latter can be beaten if you keep at it. People also mistake confidence for Intelligence. They are 2 separate things. People are prepared to follow a strong leader but not a weak leader. A strong leader will naturally have confidence but not necessarily intelligence in equal dosage.

Street smart is a combination of survival instinct, confidence and compensating attributes that rise to cover deficiencies in other attributes and typically it will be the lower intelligence. Intelligent people do not have to be street smart or seldom are street smart. Their intelligence carries them thru. However intelligent people who are not street smart suffer greatly in a disorderly environment where survival instincts are more important.

You cannot learn to be intelligent. It's inherent. You however can learn to be street smart, acquire confidence and over time acquire wisdom. An intelligent person is more likely to acquire and impart wisdom than one who is less intelligent. This is where EQ comes in. Without EQ, your IQ cannot fathom the concept of wisdom.

Criminals are generally street smart and they have to be to survive. Just as you have a dim witted criminal who drops his ID as he robs a place, you also have extremely intelligent criminals.

Society needs all types including the intelligent, the street smart and the slow. Not all can lead, most need to follow.
