DEFAMATORY ALLEGATIONS PUBLISHED ON WWW.SAMMYBOY.COM

1. We act for Mr K Shanmugam.
2. We refer to the discussion thread started by "scroobal' on "the Courtyard Café (Original!, section of the
website, www.sammyboy.com. titled "Shanmugam's Infidely vs Yaw's infideltiy - Double Standards"
(sic) (the "Discussion Thread").

3. The allegations made in the Discussion Thread are false and baseless, and are defamatory of our
client.

4. We are accordingly instructed to request that you remove the Discussion Thread and all internet links
in connection with the same, immediately from www.sammyboy.com and all other mirror websites
(including www.singsupplies.com).

5. In this regard, our firm had previously written to you on behalf of our client on 9 December 2010 asking
you to take down certain postings on www.singsupplies.com which made similar allegations. A copy of our letter dated 9 December 2010 is attached.

6. The offending postings on www.singsupplies.com appear to have been removed shortly after our letter
was sent. We would request that you do likewise on this occasion.

7. Our client has also instructed us to trace the identity of "scroobal' in order to sue him, but so far our
efforts in this regard have not been successfuL. We would accordingly request that you provide us with
address(es), email address(es), IP address(es), telephone number(s) and all other information that
would assist in ascertaining the identity of "scroobal'.

Honestly,I am lost as to how much of wayang going on here.

I am sure our ISD knows who is Sam and who is Scroobal.

Singapore is not US,India or China.....in fact today's Singapore has less than 2 millions of local born.And among them,I mean the ah pek section,only 30 odd % had done above senior cambridge equivalent to our "O' level...And about only 2% who gradnuated from tertiary institution.I mean those who can effectively understand computer language.Within which a very tiny % who had access to wide ranging public information---which can only be found in SPH archives.

That probably is the case. However, in order to secure a conviction in court, evidence usually has to include a seized computing device that can be examined forensically in order to nail the suspect. Singapore could have a lower threshold of proof but if the suit is being filed in OZ, NZ, Canada etc where many of these "dissidents" are residing, irrefutable proof is definitely required for a jury or judge to convict. The suit will also be civil in nature as the offense of "criminal defamation" has been struck off most statutes over the last few decades.

If a posting is traced to an internet account, it still does not prove who exactly posted the offending message. Where I live, 6 people share the same account which is very common with WiFi being what it is nowadays. 6 months ago, I was sharing my neighbour's WiFi network {with his knowledge and permission} because I was in between switching ISPs. God knows how much trouble I may have brought upon him. :p

that is enough to pinpoint the small cluster of users, and by process of elimination (and a bit of intimidation) it is not difficult to separate a neighboring schoolboy surfing porn from a cyber-addicted doctor gloating over the demise of ysl. it will be no surprise if it leads to the istana, and lo and behold, it was the butler who did it!

You just have answered.

Once the suspect is narrowed,all the authority needs is the cooperation of the ISP....which unfortunately is still controlled by PAP.

After a month of ISP tracking than the authorities can zoom on to the suspect and seize his/her computer.The hard disk will tell the entire history of it's existence.There is no escape.

But what you are largely forgetting is the physical interrogation aspect.With a threat to admit for light sentence as plea bargaining or never see the day light again; I bet anybody will sing like a bird.

As long as SPH is impartial, I'm sure everybody will be happy in the end.

I'm far more concerned about issues such as how the inexorable increase in the Muslim population is going to be handled over the long term. It's a ticking time bomb and there is no obvious solution.

What Ministers do or do not do in their private lives is unimportant when it comes to running the country.
