A man in India has been arrested for allegedly raping his teenage daughter for over a year, just because his daughter was in love with a boy.
The accused, a driver, from Vijayawada, Andhra Pradesh, used to administer sleeping pills to his wife and daughter before allegedly raping his daughter.
The 17-year-old girl and her mother went to the police on Saturday, reported the Times of India.
The man, reportedly enraged with his daughter for developing a friendship with a boy in the colony, forced her to stop studies two years ago.
Suspecting that his daughter was in contact with the boy, the father turned violent and allegedly decided to rape her for not heeding his advice.
On the pretext of giving iron tablets, he used to administer sleeping pills to his wife and daughter every day after dinner.
After they fell asleep, he allegedly raped his daughter.
Although the girl complained to her mother about bodily discomfort after waking up in the morning, her father would admonish her for complaining.
CAUGHT
As his daughter stopped complaining, he allegedly continued raping her.
His wife finally grew suspicious about her husband's late night movements and confronted him.
Shocked to learn about his alleged brutal act, she rushed to Nunna police station with her daughter and lodged a complaint.
Central Zone Assistant Commissioner of Police Lavanya Lakshmi visited the police station and recorded the victim's statement.
Police took the accused into custody.
The victim has been sent to the Government General Hospital for a medical examination.
In another incident, a six-year-old girl was allegedly raped on Tuesday and Wednesday by a Hindi teacher on the campus of her private school in east Bangalore.
The 37-year-old faculty member, identified as Jaishankar, was picked up for questioning by the Jeevan Bima Nagar police on Thursday.
He is believed to have raped her in the boys' toilet. The second rape was committed at around 3.30pm.
