Singapore's 'instant tree mentality'

<!-- by line --><!-- end by line -->

CROWDED shopping malls, congested MRT trains and rising HDB prices - these are some of the problems caused by an 'error of judgment' by policymakers, said Mr Inderjit Singh (Ang Mo Kio GRC) yesterday.
The rapid intake of immigrants, coupled with breakneck growth, were both signs of Singapore's 'instant tree mentality', Mr Singh said.
He questioned the wisdom of letting the population surge by one million within just five years, and asked why infrastructure had not been beefed up in advance.
Noting that he had raised the issue in Parliament a year ago, he said: 'I wish the policymakers had been willing to listen and slow down a little.'

these are some of the problems caused by an 'error of judgment' by policymakers, said
=> & while Sporns are being made to pay for their 'mistakes', they are still getting another 8.8% pay increment on their already mind-boggling pay! Meleetocracy in action indeed!

Actually, I think Inderjit makes a good Opposition member. Someone should seriously propose.

He already send signal to Low T K. When he made the speech in parliament he winked at Low. But Pinky Lee got jealous and angry. :D

Pinky Lee got jealous and angry because he wants bayi all to himself?

Maybe so, he's questioned other policies too in the past but I feel he's not assertive enough to push his views across.

He can't be too assertive, or he'll be out. That's the sad reality.
In my opinion, only he and Lily Neo seem willing to really speak out against government policy and speak up for the people.
Most of the others seem to simply go through the motions.

At least he dare speak up coming from a minority group. Unlike those Malay MPs. Sigh.....

It is one thing to speak up but does he mean what he says.

guys...don't be fooled. its an act play out by pap to tell you guys that opposition voice is heard within pap. there is no need for opposition. that is the msg they are trying to send

mps can speak up or have spoken and the media can and will write articles about it...but are there any changes made??? every year still the same old problem...it shows that nothing has been done...only wayang wayang

Smart. Give you the points you deserve.

Not this Singh. I have observed him and noted what he says in Parliament. More of a maverick in his DNA. Of cos, he can be faking it, but whatever it is, he is always taking a more daring contrarian position from his own comrades. Can he be too far out on a limb one of these days?

Why oh why do you people, supposedly part of the 33% harbour good thoughts about the PAP and their members.

Indergeet himself alluded to the fact that he cannot do anything even when speaking up because policy makers didn't listen to him.

If Inderjeet was so worthy, he wouldn't have joined the PAP. Even babelicious Lily Neo is in the same boat. I don't have any respect for these people. They are all PAPies, inside and out.

If they want to do something, they can join the Alternative Parties. It's as simple as that. Their sentiments may actually be more highly regarded because the PAPies have a tendency to copycat plans of the Alternative Parties while disregarding the views of one or two of teir own MPs.

The PAPies are a fascist politcal party only desirous for having one-party rule. They have said it many times and they often repeat it.

What irks me is that in the past few years, this country has truly gone to the dogs and the rats. It wasn't very good 5 years ago but now this country is in a shambles!

We really need to educate others - to vote out the PAPies in the next GE.

How far out depends on the class of licence and insurance LHL gives him. He's not only PAP, he's in AMK GRC. It's quite a joke to elect a team of six MPs to disagree with each other, one of them being PM. Go figure.

Nothing maverick about him, he is faking it all the way. U think the PAP exec committee will still allow him to remain as a MP if he voiced dissension against them?
