Impact Of The Floods

There may be a negative impact on the government and the ruling party, especially if they continue to keep silent, not comment, not explain clearly or not apologise for the inconvenience and even trauma caused.

Previously, they were very comfortable with their situation and their level of support, because they knew that even though there may be a section of the voting population that opposes them, they would still get support from others. This would include newly minted citizens of course, and people who were comfortable with their lives and were financially well off, including people who drive cars and business owners.
If there were some who felt frustrated about the crowds on public transport during peak hours, it didn't bother them too much, because they made up only a small section of the voting population.

But now, even car owners and business owners who felt the full brunt of the floods, may start to think about whether the infrastructure has been done properly, and look towards the government for accountability. Car owners would not expect to have their cars (and themselves) submerged in water. Business owners who would expect competition, pricing, stock control, customer loyalty and traffic, cost control, product attractiveness, etc to be their problem, would not expect to have to worry about their shops and products being affected by floods as well.

With crisis comes opportunity.

It is not just the car owners and business owners, also the upper middle class whose landed properties were flooded.
