Yes, and Hacks sweets were selling at three for 10 cents, and a regular pack of Calbee potato chips was priced at 50 cents.

According to this link, a 1.5kg pack has about 400 sweets.

https://www.comoffice.sg/PP413

This regular pack weighs 130g, so approx 35 sweets per pack.

https://www.fairprice.com.sg/product/227985

Listed price is $2.52. Each sweet costs about 70 cents.

3.3 cents per sweet in the 1980s, to 70 cents per sweet today. Welcome to inflation.
Yes I remember last time hacks sweets was $0.10 for 3 pcs in the 1980's. If we adjust that $0.10 using a 3% discount rate over 40 years to reflect the price it should be today, it should be $0.32 for 3 pcs of hack sweets.

$0.70 is like more than double of the prices paid back in 1980's. Yes things are more than double more expensive adjusted to inflation. The cost of living goes up = the standard of living goes down. Many boomers take morbid pride that our country's cost of living is high because most don't understand the illusion of money.

I be pity Malay community. They have been taken for a ride and yet they continue to vote for pap

Malay community is generally low income earners and most of them smoke and pay for high cigarette tax to government and yet they form the biggest pap vote bank

Increasing tobacco taxes is a practical move in Singapore, it helps deter smoking, especially among youths, and supports our push for a healthier nation.

U know now Australia tobacco market dominated by contraband cigarettes because of the high taxes. Politicians never learn from usa prohibition era.
