Adil Charkaoui: “The Festival of Sacrifice – Eid Al-Adha – is not limited to sheep or a barbecue. It is not the ‘festival of the sheep.’ It is the festival of sacrifice. It is a major rite in Islam. It is among the most important acts of manifesting submission to Allah.

“What Allah wants from us is piety and submission. Stop repeating that it is ‘the festival of the sheep’ and talking about how expensive they are. There are many ways to sacrifice. Let us not reduce this important day to a simple lamb.

“The most important thing we must understand is that on this day, Eid Al-Adha, the tenth day of the month of Dhu Al-Hijjah, the most beloved act of Allah is to shed blood and sacrifice for Him. Let us be among those who give Allah’s rites the importance they deserve.”
