Ian Fang’s PR status revoked, to be deported

straitstimes.comOpen

SINGAPORE - Former actor Ian Fang will be deported from Singapore and barred from re-entering after serving his jail sentence for sexual offences.

The 35-year-old was sentenced to 40 months’ jail in May 2025 after pleading guilty to three counts of sexually penetrating an underage girl.

Five other charges, including sexual penetration of an underage girl, harassment and obstructing the course of justice, were taken into account during sentencing.

He began serving his sentence on June 16, 2025

In response to queries from The Straits Times, a spokesman for the Immigration and Checkpoints Authority said Singapore permanent residents who have been convicted of an offence will have their permanent residence (PR) status reviewed.

It revoked Fang’s PR status on Feb 5 and said he will be deported and barred from re-entering Singapore.

There was initially a gag order on Fang’s identity when he was charged.

But he was identified in court after District Judge Eddy Tham lifted the gag order on his identity following an application by the prosecution.

The judge said that while the main focus of the gag order was to protect the victim from further harm, he would respect the wishes of the victim and her family to reveal his identity.

The victim cannot be named due to a court-imposed gag order. She was a 15-year-old student at the time of the offences.

You can take a Tiong out of Tiongland, but you cannot take the Tiongland out of a Tiong.

Give PR also no use one.

You can wrap a piece of shit with gold foil and pretend it's Ferrero Rocher chocolate, but in reality you will not eat it.

Tiongs will be Tiongs no matter where they are. Give them Sinkie PR or American Green Card, all the same.

江山易改本性难移

Happier days for this Tiong 戏子 ...

The court heard that Fang, who was working as an acting teacher at a children's modelling school at the time, first met the victim at an event in May 2024.

The student, whose identity is protected by a gag order, reportedly viewed Fang as her boyfriend after the pair began communicating daily.

Between June and July 2024, they engaged in sexual activity on nine occasions, five of which involved unprotected sex.

The first instance occurred on June 6, 2024, while the girl was quarantined in a hotel with Covid-19.

Fang visited her late that evening and, despite her request for him to use a condom, he refused.

Wow, Tiong really knew how to play.

Rebecca Lim dodged a shit bullet there for sure.

Keep calm and carry on.

Mediacorp actress Rebecca Lim, 35, announced her engagement on Instagram on Nov. 15.

Lim did not disclose the identity of her fiancé in her photos, showing only his side profile and back view.

The white and silver-themed proposal was suitably extravagant, with the scene densely populated by air-filled latex, as well as life-sized letters that lit up, spelling "MARRY ME."

The post, which has been liked 48,812 times at the time of writing, was met with hearty congratulations from some 700 people.

Including Ian Fang.

Context

If you're wondering why the spotlight is on 31-year-old Fang, you're asking the right question.

Back in 2019, the actor found himself in the public eye after a sexting scandal with fellow celeb Carrie Wong exploded into the usually mild and docile local entertainment scene.

At the time, Fang was rumoured to be dating Lim, a rumour that has persisted for years. Wong was also dating Taiwanese model Boris Lin then.

Ergo, Fang had allegedly cheated on Lim.

Present day

On the same day that Lim delivered news of her engagement, Fang penned a rather maudlin post on Instagram.

His was uploaded a few hours before Lim's, though.

The level of lyricism makes it difficult to translate, but we tried:

"Vanishing in a glance like a cloud, soundlessly, without bringing anything with it.

Not every Christopher Lee will have a Fann Wong; not every Fann Wong will find their Christopher Lee. Not everyone can be like Christopher Lee and Fann Wong. Everyone thinks that you might be like them, but not everyone thinks you will be the next Christopher Lee and Fann Wong too."
In the comments section of his post, one social media user pointed out that Fang did not cherish Lim, and that it was too late for him to regret it.

"You can only let go of her now, and genuinely wish for her to be happy," the commenter added.

In response, Fang said, "Yes! I'm rotten."

Another user criticised Fang for airing his unhappiness online, instead of properly congratulating Lim.

"Whatever you do now will only seem ungracious. Hope you can find your other half, like she did."

Fang replied, "Hahahahahahahahahahahaha! Look at the time I posted this, and the time she posted."

Fang had also commented on another of Lim's post earlier in the day, resulting in this rather unbecoming exchange between him and another user:

Two Instagram Stories from Fang, one subtle and another, not so subtle, also came under scrutiny:

"Why am I getting scolded for another person's marriage? Why? What wrong have I done? Where have I displeased you all? Did I do anything? I didn't say anything! What did I do?

WHY SCOLD ME?"
Yoikes.

Why he so melancholic? Should have just posted Paula Tsui's MV "Behind the Wedding Gown".
