Singaporeans don't understand the joys of owning a 4 door pickup because they're taxed to death there and also because you can only register one as a commercial vehicle along with the mandatory speed warning device and ridiculous speed limit.
In almost any other country in the world, pickups can be registered as you would any other car. They run on diesel it's as cheap as hell from a cost per km basis. They can be driven anywhere... up kerbs... on the beach... up steep slopes... through floods and nowadays you don't even have to sacrifice comfort anymore. A turbo diesel is as powerful as petrol engine with no turbo lag whatsoever and the soundproofing is so good you'd think you're driving a Lexus.
You can dump all sorts of stuff on the back.. furniture, bicycles, bbqs, fishing gear, a couple of motorbikes, a jet ski and transport these big boys toys anywhere. In summer, you can sleep in the back.
It's partly because of the sinkie laws concerning pickups that I would NEVER consider moving back to Singapore... not for a million dollars. I simply can't live my life without my pickup. I'd be lost and depressed. :o
