It does not really matter what you eat. For me, it is what you are that counts: your words, your thoughts and your actions. Are they wholesome?
It does not really matter what you believe. But are your honest and wholesome in your words, your thoughts and your actions?
I was very upset when a friend of mine ordered an expensive set of dinner for our oveerseas guests and one of my " anti-shark's fins " friends, took the shark's fin soup off the menu and replaced with some tofu soup!!! My friends were flaggergasted! My overseas guests were utterly disappointed as we promised them good shark's fins soup.
You should NOT impose your beliefts on others. If you don't want to eat the shark's fins for whatever reason, you can set aside the dish or give it to somebody. But to deprive others of the joy of relishing the dish is not correct. And it reflects badly on the sharks lover.
Well, this is only my perspective. I am sure many will not agree with me. But it's okay for all of us to agree to disagree on many things. Thank you and have a wonderful weekend.
I think Tonychat's confession on vegetarianism is quite admirable. It helps to keep the precepts. Good post.
