Advice to Senior Management – Should really go down to the ground to understand the needs of the staff.
No, I would not recommend this company to a friend – I'm not optimistic about the outlook for this company

“Join this firm if you like to fly on overseas assignment.”

Audit Assistant (Current Employee)
Singapore (Singapore)
I have been working at Foo Kon Tan Grant Thornton full-time for more than a year
Pros – Work- life balance better than Big 4. But you have to be submit your work within the time frame.
Friendships made with colleagues are good
Overseas exposure especially China as this is the direction of the firm's expansion.
Exposure to variety of clientele, assurance groups are not specialized.
Cons – 2 year employment bonding.
Unfair workload, some staff have lesser work load than others even if they are the same grade.
Promotion not based on merit but 'relationships'
No per Diem for overseas assignment.
Advice to Senior Management – Fairer workload and remuneration. This firm is losing a lot of good staff to other firms.

“Great place to start your career”

Semi Senior (Current Employee)
Singapore (Singapore)
I have been working at Foo Kon Tan Grant Thornton full-time for more than a year
Pros – It really depends on the manager and partner you work with, there are chances that minimal OT is required during peak period to achieve work life balance.
Cons – The office building is old and looks like a temple.

There is no proper pantry.

Prepare to work like mad when there is no senior allocated to the job.

“Inequitable work distribution”

Audit Assistant (Current Employee)
Singapore (Singapore)
I have been working at Foo Kon Tan Grant Thornton full-time for more than a year
Pros – You can learn a lot doing audit work about inner workings of companies. Location of office is not inconvenient.
Cons – Some audit staff go home average at 6.30 even in peak period, some go home average at 11+pm in peak period. No overtime pay, even for those whose overtime approximates 40% of our total working hours. Office building is old and looks bad. No pantry. In audit, your fate depends on which manager and partner you get put under
Advice to Senior Management – Communicate with your staff. Staff your jobs properly. Respect their time too.

“A lot of improvement needed”

Audit Assistant (Former Employee)
I worked at Foo Kon Tan Grant Thornton full-time for more than a year
Pros – Great colleagues, central office location, opportunities to travel (China), regular promotion, opportunities to rotate roles within the firm (assurance, corporate finance, etc)
Cons – 2 year bond for audit assistants, very little to no year end bonus, long hours, very old office building, no staff lounge/pantry, staff under different partners are seen in a different light (staff under equity partners tend to get treated better).
Advice to Senior Management – value all staff equally (preference shown to local graduates), change culture from within and not just hope to change it by hiring experienced staff.

If enough bad publicity is generated for this audit firm ...Grant Thornton may just decide that they want out of this partnership with Foo Kon Ton

one credit card company says "members has its privileges".

In Singapore, to do business with PAP, the One Party nation, their slogan would be "Join PA, their members have its privileges".

PAP and PA is one big orgy party.

Which of the partner was responsible for the WP TC audit and how is he associated with the PAP?
