SAF is not a blue water navy. Even if the govt want to send, the navy cannot do it as it take a lot to keep just a single ship to patrol for a stretch of 3 months. First to take care was the fuel, food and ship spares. Currently they are using the LST as support ship but it not ideal. I know they just commissioned a new supply ship but it will take time to completed the sea trials and bring it new crew up to standard.

Seriously, spore govt is a bunch of stingy bastard when come to contributing to world causes. Always contribute the least, in term of manpowers, money and supplies. Just look at the recent disasters that happen recently, all Spore Govt was to provide one or two plane load of supplies, the rest came from the Red Cross or other charities in singapore which in turn donated by residents of singapore.

You must be an uncle who served NS during the late 70s .... those were the days when our navy was headed by a Taiwanese and we had to sail to ROC for part of our training...... imagine our CPCs & MGBs trying to cross the ocean....... needless to say we often make detours to Songkla to "take cover" from rough seas while on these trips...... our sailors contributed generously to the development of Hatyai during those years
