Hougang SMC went on a one-day Kukup seafood and shopping tour on 14 July 2013. 12 buses of Hougang residents & friends enjoyed a day of feasting and fun with MP Png Eng Huat. We visited a temple, feasted durians in a plantation, took a scenic boat ride and learnt about the operations in a fishing kelong. We also enjoyed a sumptuous seafood lunch by the sea, had a great dinner after shopping in Johor Bahru, and capped the night by celebrating the birthdays of the Hougang residents born in the month of July!

These lifts at Blk 355 and 356 are the first LUP lifts to be built in Hougang. They were turned on yesterday (19 July 2013). The residents of Hougang have waited a long time for this day to come.
I took the lift down from level 3 to level 1 with an elderly resident at one of the blocks. This senior citizen has virtually given up on stepping out of her house due to mobility and medical issues. She took the lift down to level 1 and invited her neighbour on the ground floor to try out the lift!
I am so happy that many elderly residents in Hougang can go for a walk or simply watch the world go by at the void decks without much hesitation now.
