TTSH is also trying to reduce the waiting time for a bed at its emergency department with an initiative called Emergency Direct to Operating Theatre which fast-tracks patients for surgery without them having to wait for a bed.

TTSH divisional chairman of medicine Alan Ng said: "The various initiatives have resulted in improved efficiency in delivery of healthcare. With better coordination of services, delays are minimised and the patient experience is maximised. We have also been able to help patients save or shorten their hospitalisation."
