HK has democracy, social welfare, free media, much higher pay, 100% bank guarantee and now even min. wage. And they dun have GST and their govt even cut their electricity tariffs by 3%, waived the maid levy, etc. Fascist Familee owned Peesai? Zilch! And more sucking to cum while the Familee members are happily scratching one another's back and engaging in Leegalized corruption! U decide if revolution is not the only way out for Peesai!

The government will propose a bill to introduce an across- the-board minimum wage in the 2008-09 legislative session, Tsang said today in his second annual policy address since being picked for a five-year term in 2007. Hong Kong will set up a minimum wage commission to provide advice and research, he said.
``An across-the-board minimum wage should protect workers against exploitation while at the same time prevent the loss of low-paid jobs,'' Tsang said. ``The government will handle the relevant issues, including the minimum wage level and related review mechanism, in a prudent and pragmatic manner.''
Hong Kong's unemployment stayed at the lowest level in more than a decade. The seasonally adjusted jobless rate was 3.2 percent in the three months ended Aug. 31, while the number of people employed rose by 13,100 to 3,546,300.
Hong Kong currently has a Wage Protection Movement, which urges employers to voluntarily pay about HK$5,300 ($683) to cleaners and at least HK$6,600 to security guards for eight hours of work, 26 days a month.
``Despite increases in both the number and proportion of workers benefiting from the WPM compared with two years ago, the situation on the whole is unsatisfactory,'' Tsang said, after a review of the program was completed this month.
Live-in housekeepers, drawn mostly from the Philippines and Indonesia, are currently the only group of Hong Kong's labor force that have a prescribed minimum wage. The city's labor unions want a similar standard for local workers, who are mainly employed in service industries. (Bloomberg)

There are sufficient jobs in Singapore for those who are willing, to secure a wage that exceeds HK's minimum wage easily.

Ah, moniker Division1. You are here, too. I can see you are here now lurking around in invisible mode which means you have decided to go into hiding in order to avoid answering my question.

You still owe us an answer to my question, first put to you in thread "154th: Be content, live within your means woh!" message #19, and same question is repeated in your own thread "I still Welcome Contributions from Moniker Makapaaa" message #19. You have so far indulged with beat around the bush responses without an answer.

Can you explain to us now what you understand from Lim Swee Suay's speech, or are you just full of shit talk when you alleged that we dumb fools misunderstood him?

You forgot the 2nd part, "while our expenditure & costs of living greatly exceeds HK's"

That is not accurate. We do have many costs and expenditures which are competitive to Hong Kong and some are even arguably lower. Please remember that the GDP per capita in Singapore is higher than that of Hong Kong and we do not have the luxury of been close to China, the world's factory, the hinterland and cheap source of products. I must say we are not doing too bad, in comparison with Hong Kong.

Taxi fares are perhaps a good example of comparison of competitive prices, especially if exclude the ERP system, designed to regulate traffic congestion.
