MOH has issued a statement in response to press queries last night, to explicitly state that only hawker centres and coffee shops can have unvaccinated diners.
This means food courts will be treated like restaurants and other eateries - can have up to 5, but all vaccinated except for selected folks like kids under 12, folks who were recovered Covid patients, and folks who are medically exempted from vaccination, subject to various other requirements like kids must be from same household, etc.
For unvaccinated wanting to dine in food courts, restaurants, and other eateries, other than hawker centres and coffee shops, they will need to have a pre-event test that has been done within the last 24 hours.
For hawker centres and coffee shops, up to 2 people can eat together, regardless of vaccination, and without requirement for a valid Covid negative test within the last 24 hours.
Don’t fret, folks, it’s a matter of time as we continue to vaccinate more and more folks, and we can continue to relax more and more of the restrictions.
But don’t be a free rider, ok?
Don’t be a chest thumping free rider, proclaiming your rights not to be vaccinated.
Vaccination is not yet compulsory, so don’t be one kind, ok?
And don’t grumble about restrictions if you choose not to ne vaccinated.
After all, we don’t allow drink driving on the roads.
Drink driving not only endanger themselves.
They push the cost of life up for others, from insurance to loss of life and limb.
They push the cost of life up for their own families, from medical costs to emotional distress, and potentially future financial burden for life.
All these before we count the cost of life to the drunk driver.
So if we choose to be drunk on the illusion of invincibility, be prepared to own the consequences including the restrictions or worse.
