Peter Chen, a legendary Taiwan singer-songwriter and record producer, passed away peacefully in Chengdu on June 14 at 9:46 a.m., according to a statement released by his son on June 17. He was 82 years old.

Born as Chen Xiaoyin, Peter Chen originated from Chengdu, Sichuan Province, China, with ancestral roots in Chaoyang, Guangdong. He grew up in a military dependents' village in Taiwan and became a prominent figure in the Taiwan pop music industry.

According to CCTV, during an era dominated by sweet love songs in Taiwan, Chen boldly experimented by incorporating rock and other Western musical elements into Taiwan pop music, revolutionizing the industry. He was widely regarded as the "Godfather of Taiwan Pop Music."
